My aunt switched to re-using glass jars (pickle jars, etc.) to store leftovers. Glass doesn't take on smells, and you can boil it if necessary. But, that said, try making a paste of baking soda, smearing it on the plastic, letting it set overnight, then washing it again in the morning. If that doesn't work, try setting the plastics out in the sun for a day or two. If that doesn't work, then yes, new containers. Get glass ones, or the ones that are dishwasher safe (if you have a dishwasher).

Try lemon juice, I think that will do the trick. If not then put a very small amount of bleach in your dish water and soak the bowl. I am sure one of these will work!

Try lemon/lime juice, or crumpled up newspapers (black and white ones), or mix baking soda and warm water and let it sit over night or for a couple days
