easy doc...you know how sensitive us bricklayers are...i would order 4 tons and you will have a little left over...where i live its sold by the ton...but if your supplier needs cu yds. , for 5 in. you'll need 5 cu. yds. of gravel...i prefer crushed stone to gravel...it compacts better...truce doc...

i've dealt with this before. call the quarry and ask them how much a cubic yard of the stuff weighs. i don't remember off hand, but I think gravel is about 1 1/2 tons per yard. See if you can get screenings instead. The last time, I think I was buying screenings for about $2/ton and this is much cheaper than gravel. screenings are about the same as 1/4" minus gravel. They are better than sand also, because you can drive over them/compact them.

With no offense to you, and certainly none to HIM,,,look up "BRICKY"
He'd "beat me up" anyway of I answered wrongly,,,LOL.
I can offer this however, but I'm curious about 5 inches???
Without knowing if you want the surface to be Flush at ground level, or the soil content, or freeze levels, or Fill you might use, or your notion of occasionally having to Re-set pavers for conditions that might have an effect/affect... those are issues YOU might want to consider, not only for a depth of a base, but for type.

Gravel is usually sold by the cubic yard, not by weight. Six yards would give you enough for the patio.
