I want to lock my bedroom door, but when you turn the little thing to lock it, it doesn't lock. I know it locks because I've done it before, but I think someone took it apart and fixed it so it won't. Any help? (tell me if you need more details)

I live on the top floor of a woodframe building with a concrete layer between my floor and the unit below. The problem is I can hear the people below when they slam their doors. Earplugs don't help because the noise is a vibration. Is there anything I can do to reduce this noise?

i am trying to find the outdoor blue and white icicle christmas lights... we have been seeing them around everywhere for the last month but have not been able to find them in stores! we've checked target, wal-mart, home depot, and no one seems to know what we're talking about. they are not the typical icicle lights (the ones that just look like pieces of light string hanging)..these have an actual pointed piece of plastic at the bottom, and the whole thing flashes blue and white... please help!!!!!!

I have the following Flushmount Ceiling Fixture at home:
http://www.destinationlighting.com/storeitem.jhtml?iid=20448

The bulbs in it have blown out and I need to replace them. But I see no way to remove the fixture, i.e. there are no visible bolts or screws on the fixture.

How does one remove this fixture?

i took a light fixture down the other day and there was no junction box in the ceiling. The light fixture was simply screwed into the drywall. and the wires were hanging out of a small hole in the drywall. if i put a new light fixture can i just use longer screws and screw it into the wood on top of the drywall?

I am planning ahead for next Christmas. I have about 15 spotlights on my decorations. I want to change, to save electricity. I already have the fixtures and power cords, I only set it up for a month. Can anyone tell me how much difference there would be between switching to flurorescent bulbs or using a low voltage system?

When neighbors left the apartment complex last year they gave me their 2 white plastic outdoor chairs. The chairs are nice and large and I'd like to save them. They had been sitting outdoors a while and a simple cleaning didn't work well so I bleached them clean. They stayed clean white for a while but since I've stored them indoors for several months they look blotchy yellow. Is there a product that can get them white again, or is there a plastic paint that will stick to the plastic that won't peel when sitting outdoors. I don't want to change the color, really, but the yellow blotches looks bad. Your comments are requested.

i know there's some medium that you can mix it with so it will be like screen printing, but if I just use acrylic paint, will it come off?

I have been having trouble with my dishwasher lately. My apartment manager has had the maintenance man look at it several times and he cannot find anything wrong.

When I put dishes in, the bottom rack comes out clean, but the top rack comes out dirtier than when it went in. When I use the Cascade pouches with Dawn, the soap does not open all the way and the pouch barely dissolves. If I use liquid, it opens and all the soap is used.

I think it is a water pressure thing. The maintenance man said that some of the other residents had some issues with water. There was a clog in a hose, but that was supposed to be fixed. I know that the temperature of the water is hot enough because when I rinse the dishes they get almost too hot to touch. The water might just be too hot.

I checked the drain and it had had some things on it, but after I wiped it clear, I still have the problem.

I know that the maintenance man should fix this, but I am tired of waiting. Any ideas?

a very temp situation, but still at least 1 winter and in NORTH INDIANA! I have to supply two 3/4 pex pipes to a 2nd story heated area. to do this, I must run OUT of a heated area, THROUGH A GARAGE.this "garage" is a 80' x 25' garage with a 2nd story all living space, but will be unheated except for the back 20. I need to run the pipes up at the garage ceiling ( floor joists) to the back then UP. the garage walls are not insulated, but I am going to do the floor (ceiling, or joist to 2nd story) if I have the pipe in there, do you think that is enough? if I insulate all the garage walls too? heat tape that run is over 500 bucks.. I figure I might spend it on insulation I will eventualy need if it will work.?
