As most paints are fast drying, Leave the door open and 2 - 4 hours should be fine. It's always good to wait 24 hours before any contact but if you need a shower , take one.

If the bathroom has a good fan that vents outside, I don't see a problem with taking a shower with relatively warm, but not steamy hot water, a couple of hours later. just put your towel on the sink and not on the towel rack, lest you give texture to your paint while you wash. This is assuming you used a latex paint and didn't put it on too thick. if it looks surface dry, take a small strip of paper and touch it to a corner no one will see, if it doesn't stick or get paint on it, you should be good to go for that warm, not hot, shower

You dont have to wait if your taking a cold shower, if your taking a shower with steam or really hot water I'd wait at least 8 hours.

I'd check the can of paint for tips... if it doesn't say, I'd wait 24 hours.

if you get light-headed and wake up on the shower floor, then you didn't wait long enough.
