We live in the country and have just planted two new trees. The trees are about 8 feet tall and about 3 inches in diameter around the trunk. Our problem is that it is deer season and deers then to destroy our trees but eating them or rubbing up against them.

Do you have any ideas or tips on how to prevent this?

I didn't care for any of the pieces at the lumberyard and thought, "I have a table saw and a router, maybe I could take a 2x4, cut to square pieces and router my design". Has anybody made their own pieces?

What are the dangers of using a regular appliance paint inside?
The unit works great otherwise and I would hate to throw it out if it can still serve its purpose with no danger to us.

The plumber in question installed a combi boiler. I had paid him with the understanding he would return after his holiday to complete the installation and fill in the warranty card.He also has to notify the council he has installed a new boiler. I do not have his Corgi number, so I cannot report him to them as they work on numbers only. I do have his mobile and home phone number as well as his business name. He promises faithfully on the phone to come in the week but never arrives.

Had house fire. Gutted home to the studs. There is not a whole lot of visible smoke damage, and once I got down to the studs, I don't notice that much smoke odor. I want to make sure though that once the house is put back together with new drywall, and such, that the odors don't penetrate through the walls. I was thinking of renting a paint sprayer and spraying everything down with oil based original Kilz, but a representative from a local paint store indicated to me that Kilz is really not to remove odor, and that I would be better off going with a White Pigmented Shellac Primer. Any suggestions would be great, because there is a huge difference in pricing here, and I'm about to get married, and need all the extra $$ we can save. Thanks...

My sis-in-law has been battling fruit flies ever since my mother brought some produce from a fruit stand (long gone).. Anyway she's tried leaving vinegar out, water w/ soap.. everything..She's also been taking all food scraps and compost out of the house as soon as the meal is over, and has no fruit outside the refrigerator.

Any other tricks?

The solution is on recall. DO NOT use the old bottles. It clogs the machines and ruins them. I just ruined 3 of mine! I bought it at the beginning of October before the recall happened. They now have the new bottles in the store.

I discovered two earthworms (there may be more) in a juniper bonsai that I recently purchased. I know earthworms are good for plants in gardens, but are they good or bad for Juniper bonsai?

I know Junipers can easily suffer from "root rot", do earthworms help this or make it worse?

(The soil for my juniper drains very well and is composed of soil, bark pieces, brick pieces, and sand; and I water it about twice a week because I let it get a little dry between waterings, but not completely dried out. The plant is outside and receives indirect sunlight on a covered patio.)

I agree that installation is pretty easy except for around non-45 degree angles. Why don't they make angles for bay windows? It seems like they are pretty common.

I am replacing all my outlets to a new color and i am having a problem. I have installed many new outlets, mostly just by taking the old one out, and putting the wires where the were on the old one and put them on the new one. I have ran into a problem though with one of my outets however. The outlet is connected to a wall switch so that you can turn the light on with the switch through the outlet. There are 3 wires, Black, White, and Yellow. I hooked it up the exact way that the older one was hooked up. Black on the hot wire side, White on opposite side, and the Yellow on the other vacant screw on the hot side. This works with the old outlet, but not with the new outlet. It gets power with the new outlet, but the switch does not control it. Do i need to get a special kind of outlet, or am i hooking it up wrong?

1) I've grown 3 leeks for the first time. They look good and leeky. Someone said you should wait for frost before lifting them so I was waiting until November/December. However, 2 of them seem to be growing a bud thingy - like an unopened flower - and I'm wondering if they are going to seed. Help. Should I lift them now.
2) I've also got 3 little aubergines under plastic. Will they get bigger (South of England) or again, should I pick them now?
