I live in a desert climate and I've been able to keep the backyard green all summer by watering it 3 times a week but do I keep watering it through the winter?
Also, we don't get much rain so if I stop watering the trees and grass won't get much water at all.
I'm renting and I'm concerned about keeping the yard up.

all of the other sinks in my house have their own separate water shut off valves, I have looked both inside and outside the house and have not been able to find a main water shut off valve to the whole house.

I want to put a simple wood shelf/ledge up on the wall. How many brackets would I need for 11 foot length plank of wood (about 7 inch wide)? The shelf will hold picture frames, nothing extremely heavy.

It was a handmade baby shawl in fine wool. Someone helpfully washed it without thinking about the temperature. It has shrunk and matted. I guess it is beyond hope but it has a lot of sentimantal value and I thought it could be worth trying Yahoo Answers. Please help if you can.

I live near Atlanta, GA where we are suffering a drought so bad we can't water our lawns. Water wells are easy to get permitted around here and aren't subject to restrictions. It would cost about $7,000 to have a professional put in a well. Can I put in my own and save some. How deep will I have to drive the pipe? Where can I get the equipment?

The fescue seed has been down now for 3 weeks.

It has come up and has already been mown once or twice now.

I want to spray for the broad leaf weeds now in the lawn with Ortho weed b gone Max concentrate.

Will it be okay?

How much longer should i wait, if not?

I am afraid if I wait too long here in Tennessee that it will be too cool at the end of this month for it to work. Last week we had temperatures up in the upper 80's and lows in the 60's, but this week it will get down to the mid 70's for highs, and low 50's for lows.

Thanks for your answers!

I heard there was something harmful in the paint to human beings. One should open the window to let the air out before moving in. Is it true and how long should I wait before moving in?

I have a 6 foot tall young maple tree, and eventhough most other maples in the area are turning colors, mine is still vivid green and lush. I want it to stay green longer...what do I do to help it? Water it or dont? Fertilize it or dont?

Also, different maples have different colors either yellow, orange and red. Is there any way I can alter the color of mine? Like by adding certain elements to the soil?

I have some taro growing in the garden. They have produced a lot of healthy green leaves, but so far, little in the way of tubers. Should I prune the tops back to encourage underground growth like one does with sweet potato?

I have hard water with lots of iron in it. We have a water softener to combat this. If we didn't have the softener, our water would be orange coming out of our faucets. It's not that good to be drinking water with the softener salt in it, especially now that I'm pregnant. What would be the best water filter for me? Should I get one that attaches to the faucet or a pitcher with a filter?
