I'm thinking of letting it soak in a mild solution of Dawn and then letting it air dry. But I never tried to wash a lamp shade before. I've cleaned off dust and surface dirt, but it still looks yellowed and dirty.........thanks!

We just found a large spider on my back porch. It was brown, had fairly short but thick legs, and was about an inch across. It also had a cross on its back. I just want to know what type it is and if it's deadly. I live in Northwestern PA, if that helps. I don't think it was a brown recluse.

Every fall, along with ladybugs they invade the house and scare the crap out of me when they buzz by my ear from out of nowhere! Do they eat other bugs, are they a garden pest, or are they like an appendix and no one really knows........

Just the other day the city came by and put on a black coating on the road infront of my house. I had to go somewhere that evening. While driving on the semi-fresh coating, I could hear lots of small gravel fly up and hit the undercarriage/sides/step boards of my car. It's a couple days later and black gravel is coated on, like I had just gone mudding - albeit not quite as bad.

How do I safely get this stuff off without hurting the paint?

Ants keep appearing on the outside of my car and sometimes getting into the car itself. They are everywhere and I dont eat or drink in my car and yet they continue to crawl all over it. Just want to know what could be causing it and what to do to keep them away without using something that could damage to paint on my car.

Here's my situation: I un-knowingly had some old bread on top of my fridge towards the back (where it is not viewable), which created these pests that I didn't even know were there. I never noticed them until last night...it was like they were not there one minute, and then they were! At first I thought it was dirt or dust on the fridge handles and doors...but then I noticed them moving! I began cleaning the fridge like crazy...but they kept re-appearing! Do they have a name and/or a way to get rid of them? Are they harmful?! PLEASE HELP!

What features do you have that make it attractive to wildlife, and which kinds come to visit or live there? Is it a work-in-progress or are you able to sit back and enjoy the show?

I've got white-crowned sparrows, mourning doves, an Anna's hummingbird and the resident squirrel in my backyard right now. And "spider season" seems to have kicked in; if you go outside at night you might encounter a web or two in the making!

Mine is a mostly-finished work-in-progress. Fall is planting time in SoCal, and I want to find a spot to put in some deer grass so I can learn native basketmaking next spring!

was wondering should go on ahead and plant them in the ground or leave them in pots. they have been in the poit since feb or so this year. thy have bloomed but the stems have gotten taller at least 3 feet but they are not thick stems though. some of the leaves turn red but no buds whatso ever. they get plenty of sun. i do give them miracle grow once a month.should i cut them down now or wait. i live in north florida. i read that when your rose bush is tall and if the stems are really thin you should cut down to where the stem is thicker. i was wondering if that was true or not. well if it is better to grow them i the ground now how much sun is preferred for the roses. i only have small portions with sun but i have lots of rose bushes.
