Plunk it in the ground. It will take full sun to part shade. Feed every 2 to 3 weeks.

My wife who is a Master Gardener used the "plunk it in the ground" technique and it worked like a charm.

You can even take a piece of ginger root from the grocery and it will grow also. Use a piece that has an "eye" like a potato.

cultivate a small plot. dug a shallow holes 10cm deep and 20 cm or more apart. place one ginger bulb inside the hole and cover with earth then cover the whole plot with dried hays or dried coconut leaves if you have. Moisten the the hays or dried coconut leaves with slight water. After that no watering is needed. In few weeks time you find them sproutings. You must propect the plot from chickens.
Dont't remove the dried hays or coconut leaves till the ginger grown leaves about 10cm or 20 cm tall. This time you can spray water two or three times a week. But don't flood the plants.

Have you ever grown Irises? treat ginger just like that.If you haven't,here's the basics, plunk them in the ground in a part sun/part shade spot, barely cover with soil cause if you plant them too deep they won't flower. After 2-3 years you can dig them up,split the roots, use what you want and replant the rest.
