all of the other sinks in my house have their own separate water shut off valves, I have looked both inside and outside the house and have not been able to find a main water shut off valve to the whole house.

The main water shut-off should be at the water meter.

First, there has to be a main water cutoff for the house somewhere. Look in basement or under the house in a crawlspace. Are you on a well or located in a city on a municipal water supply? Once you have the water cut off, then its just a matter of installing cutoff valves for the sink, or capping the lines.

You might have to shut off all the water to the house which is usually found near where the water enters the house through the all. Also have you looked for a shut off value near the washing machine, sometimes they share a shut off value with a nearby sink or washer. Good luck!

In some older homes with city water, the only shutoff is the box at the street connection. If you call the city to have them turn it off. Put a shutoff inside the house while the water is down. It should only take an extra 30 minutes.

Weren't there any knobs right under the sink? If there are, twist those to the right.
