I bought the house only a year and a half ago and I am sorry to say I did not know the evaporator coils needed to be cleaned. I have only changed the filter regularly. The repairmain quoted me $1,200 to replace the compressor, $650 to clean the evaporator coils and $200 to dispose of the compressor. I live in Texas. Do these figures seem correct? The house has a 7 year old13 Seer system and the repairman basically told me I should just buy a new 15 seer system that would cost me about 6k. Anyone had an experience with this? I am thinking of getting a second opinion.

I believe my element burned out on my hotwater heater and I need to know step by step on how to replace it. Its practically a 3 yr old hotwater heater and it has a safety tank on top of the heater. I know to turn off the power, and I already unscrewed the plates on the front of the heater. Took out the installation and now I just need to know how to get the elements out.

Our front door has several deep scratches from decades of use. They are deep enough to see the wood beneath. We need to fill them in & have them match the original wood color without refinishing the entire doorway.

I live in a first floor apartment and there are trees outside my apartment. There is a sliding door that I can open to go to the patio near those trees. The thing is; I always found one or two spiders inside my apartment. I dont even know where did it come from? could it be from the tree? how to prevent this to happen again because I don't like spiders and I am kinda scared that it could bite me when I am sleeping or something.

I just got a new house and it turns out the refrigerator doesn't have a cold line running to it. We're buying a new fridge and we want one that has a water/ice dispenser, but you need a cold water line run to it. Does anyone have any idea how much that might cost? Would it be possible for me to do that myself? I have some money, but not a whole lot, and I really want to get this done. Please help!

I just moved into a new house and the lawn is in decent shape. There are some weeds and rough spots, but all in all, the turf is looking good so far. I'd like to begin a regimen of a fertilizer and anti-weed product. What are your recommendations? Thanks.
