I have a two story house that has a smell of cigarette smoke. The person(s) who smoked only smoked in the kitchen which some how makes a stong smell through out the downstairs. How can I remove this smell. Thank you!

Good question.
Burn lots of candles. With good smells. Go to Wall Mart they have some very inexpensive candles that have a great aroma.
Then you are going to have to clean, clean and clean. The tar and nicotine is stuck to the walls and surfaces. Clean with some lemon in the water or windex if that is what you want to use.

There is a product called ozone. You have to go to a hardware store. A real estate agent told me about this. She had a house fire and the place was stinky. It did take the stench out of the air. That will be the final and most extreme step.

Well 2 thing´s you can try , This one works very well. Fill a pot with water add vinegar, let the water boil, the turn the heat down and leave to simmer for as long as it takes to rid the smell. just remember to keep topping up with water. Also you can use 1/2 an onion place face up& add a small amount of ammonia, this will absorb the smell of the smoke. Change the onion once it starts changing color

FABREEZE is the best stuff on the planet. spray it everywhere. Buy the FABREEZE plug ins as well. Burn candles for a few days and if there is any carpet in the house sprinkle the arm and hammer (baking soda) carpet powder everywhere. Trust me this works. I have an obsessive compulsive thing about smells and I have done it many times.

If you have a day to kill, clean everything top to bottom!
Wet vac the carpets if you have any, upholstery and any drapes or curtains you have gotta be washed. Besides the counter tops, you'd have to do a good scrub down on the walls & ceiling. There's probably a good amount if nicatine built up there.

While vinegar works it makes a new odor. Cedar and orange are great scents to hide it. Febreeze works too. They actually make stuff that gets rid of that smell. Those tars stick to everything. What a nightmare. Tell your friends to take it outside.

Bowls of vinegar are good . If you want to get rid of the smell of paint put a peeled onion in a bucket of water leave in the room overnight . If you want to get rid of the smell of fish put a dash of vinegar in the oil when you fry it

Generaaly after the vinegar and the smokers you could use fresh fragaranced floweres or room deodarant spray

if you have a carpeted house you are going to have to call a professional carpet cleaner and possibly a fumagator. if it's all hard wood or vinyl, i say get a bucket fill it one part bleach 3 parts hot water and get to mopping the floors and wiping the walls. then open the windows and doors and let the fresh air in and vuala the stinch is gone.

get febreeze air freshener and the febreeze that you use to spray on the sofa and couches (get the one with the allergen reducer). That stuff really works. Spray the febreeze on the sofas, couches, and your clothes in your closets and on the curtains and drapes all over the house. Before you febreeze your carpets, get the Arm and Hammer carpet cleaner, and sprinkle that on your carpet then vacuum. After you vacuum, then spray febreeze.

Yes, clean every surface. Fabreeze may work, new carpet would help, fresh paint.

Good luck
