I live in a first floor apartment and there are trees outside my apartment. There is a sliding door that I can open to go to the patio near those trees. The thing is; I always found one or two spiders inside my apartment. I dont even know where did it come from? could it be from the tree? how to prevent this to happen again because I don't like spiders and I am kinda scared that it could bite me when I am sleeping or something.

Unfortunately, there's no way to keep spiders out entirely. They are able to get in through the smallest spaces, so even if you kept the door closed all the time you would probably still see the occasional spider. However, here are a few tips to keep the spiders from "moving in".

1) Cut back shrubbery (if you're allowed to) near your doors and windows. Remove excess furniture or junk outside - this way they have less places to hide. Keep grass trimmed and knock down webs on the outside of the building (especially around the doors and windows) on a regular basis.

2) Knock down any webs inside the house, and vacuum corners and baseboards regularly. Keep piles of "stuff" at a minimum: spiders like to hide in stacks of old mail, laundry, and newspapers. Keep your apartment clean and tidy. Use plastic bins with airtight lids for storage.

3) Check the weatherstripping around doors and windows.

4) In the area where I live, we have black widows so I always check my shoes before putting them on. I like to store them upside down to deter them from "moving in".

I hope these tips help. Remember, spiders are more scared of us then we are of them and they only bite in self defense. Most spider bites are harmless.

I live where there are lots of spiders Black Widows are everywhere and I am deathly afraid of them. Not to mention I was bit by a Black widow it is not something I ever want to experience again, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Go to Big Lots, Kmart, Walmart any store that has automotive supplies and buy this stuff it's called B.B. Blaster Penetrate it's in a small white & yellow spray can, spray this outside the parimitor of your patio front door, flower gardens, just spray a line around your living area, I guarantee you will not see another spider for at least 6 months. Trust me, I havn't seen a spider in months but all my neighbors complain about them all the time. Remember B.B. Blaster Penetrate it's the best, twice a year is all I spray. Good Luck.

Though there is no 100% way to stop spiders or any critter that small or smaller from getting into your space. However there are some insecticides that act as a barrier around the hole house or doorways of apartments Ect, that are easy to use and are not too messy. Ask your local hardware or lawn and garden dealer.

Most spiders are harmless and can be kept at bay with routine pest control. However, my Aunt Dawn has a really large and nice home, made out of cedar. Now you would think that the cedar would help the spider infestation, but it doesn't. Her land and home are like perfection, except for the spiders! The have brown recluses living in their light fixtures and attic. Pest control doesn't work, to kill those kinds of spiders you have to directly spray them. As for them not bothering you when you're sleeping, wrong! She was bit on the forehead and luckily she was one out of a few thousand that doesn't have severe reactions to the poisonous bite. Her face and head was so messed up for like three months. Her husband has awoke with one crawling on him. She keeps her own supply of anti-venom in case one of the children ever gets bit. Keeping your lawn mowed and litter debris clear around the house helps. And keeping your home clear of clutter also helps. Next time your pest control guy comes out let him know that you are having a problem with spiders.

I am not a bug or insect expert, but I am answering based on my little knowledge. There are four possibilities in your case. 1) May be from tree out side, you Need to trim the tree so it stays several feet from your house. 2) Damp or moisture, if weather is very humid or you are living close to any water body, you need to dehumidify your house. Damp atmosphere makes spider population grow aggressively. 3) Due to busy schedule, we all delay cleaning of walls and ceilings regularly. This also helps spiders to grow. Areas swept or cleaned regularly keeps insects away. 4) If you are keeping apartment clean and there is not much humidity in area then it may be from your neighbors next door or up stair. They might not doing their job.

If you have an outlet near the doors/window, go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a bug repellent that you plug into the outlet. It takes care of rats, roaches, spiders, ants, etc. They usually cost between $5-20. You just plug it in the wall and go! Sizes are about the width and length of a deck of cars, but the one I own is a lot smaller. About the size of a lime if you will...

There are no chemicals or noise to deal with. There is a red light on the device as well to let you know its working also. I have a black and decker one and it works great! Good luck! :)

I wish I could tell you how to get rid of them but I'm having the same problem and also with ticks. I was told it was the unusual weather this past winter and early spring. Whatever the reason nothing will stop them. I get those horrible little jumping spiders. They actually know when I am coming at them and then jump. When I do spray them, they curl up and pretend they are dead but all of a sudden they are up again. The ticks are impossible to kill. They have been on almost everyone already. One of the many reasons why I hate summer.

I have read somewhere that if you place those big, green, round hedge balls behind furniture and under things that it will keep spiders away. Also, spray window sills, door frames, and corners of your home with a spider spray that is "residual" or lasts for three months or more. Spiders lungs are in their abdomens so when they crawl across a spray that is residual or lasts a long time, then it also gets into their lungs, killing them. Ask someone at a "farm and home" type store to help you with this, ensuring that the product does last and doesn't have to be directly sprayed onto the spider. Exterminators are a rip off. We used one for a year and I am not happy with our results.

There are a couple different things I have used and it does work. You can go to Home Depot or Walmart and get a powder that you spread around the walls outside, one of them is made by Ortho, or spiders do not like the smell of Lavender, so if you get some Lavender oil and put a couple drops around the interior of your patio door it should help.
