I have a big patch of it taking over my lawn!

Dig it out, re-seed. Spot-spray it with nasty stuff. Re-seed.
Weed-B-Gon - the kind labeled for oxalis & clover - will work.

But understand it's not a one-time battle. You have to be persistent over time. It reproduces by both seed and rhyzomes, so it's a tough cookie.

And just an FYI - it's actually edible.

A solution of 1:10 borax in water can be sprayed on Creeping Charlie to kill it. But it has to be sprayed when the plant is flowering. This has worked for me, but it does leave big brown patches in the lawn where the Creeping Charlie had taken over. Charlie is very persistent though, and will continue to spread from any bits left behind.

A little expemsive but spraying creeping Charlie with stale beer will wipe it out. Also, boric acid mixed in water and sprayed will finish it off. Use about 2 tablespoons of boric acid to a quart of water. Last, pay the neighbor kids to yank it out and bag it. Do not allow it to lay around after pulling because it only Rises from the Ashes like the Phoenix. I got the little kids in the block to pull loads of it by offering $5 for the biggest bag of creeping Charley. The beer and/or boric acid will not kill your grass.

People love creeping charle's as indoor houseplants. Stick a bunch of them in pots and sell them . Lots of newspapers have a 'free ad' section. That way you can turn a problem into a little cash,

I'd go to a flower store and ask them. If they didn't know then I'd try a garden center and they might know. If I coun't fined an answer I take a knife and hack at it untill I was down to the roots. Then I would pore as much bleach on the roots as I had.

what ever you do it is going to take all summer to get rid of it, unless you do as "cat" told you. which I recommend highly, for this is an evil weed that just keeps coming back or spreading out.Make it gone now by removing the entire contaminated area then apply borax as directed to keep it from growing back.

It kills better in Sept. Why? - ???? just does . Question is why kill it ? I know it's customary , but it's low , always green, even when the grass goes brown. Has nice flowers, & smells good when you mow it . Looks great en masse , esp in flower . What's not to like?
