I've looked at places like Lowe's and Home Depot in the past but not very recently. Is there a certain time of year spider plants can be found. Should I try a local nursery? Thanks

I can't believe our rotten luck! We have had berber carpet in our family room for many, many years and we had never snagged it. We liked the carpet so well that we replaced it yesterday with new ($1500). And the dog was rolling around on the carpet and got his collar caught on a thread, pulling out a loop of about three inches--right in the middle of the room where we walk. I know better than to cut the loop. Is it possible to pull the carpet back and use a tool (like a crochet hook) to re-weave the strand back into the carpet?

My house is very old 80-90 yrs. I cannot replace the window with a modern replacement without changing all of my windows which is a bunch due to historical society restrictions. The window is second floor but in a shower and privacy would be nice. I have already tried the stick on vinyl stuff from Home Depot with no luck.

A friend of mine says 5/8" x 6" and there's a website (http://freedeckplans.com) that says 2x6. 2x6 are obviously more expensive. Which are actually recommended? The 5/8" x 6" is supposedly decking board? (I'm not sure so I'm asking)

Hi all,
I have an IKEA TV unit with 2 glass doors and have lost the key to lock it. The TV unit is 5-6 yrs old but they still sell it at IKEA. It's not a real key; I think it's a skeleton key that many IKEA glass cabinets use. I have 3 glass cabinets from them, and I think I either lost or threw away all of them (thinking I'd never have a baby).

I am babyproofing my home and my 9 mo. old is slamming the door shut and I am afraid of a big accident if I don't solve this soon. I contacted IKEA and they said they can't help me AT ALL, no replacement parts and a big 'sorry' - we're useless. I looked on ebay and just can't find it anywhere.

Can anyone give me a clue what to do? Besides by a new t.v. unit? I have to open the cabinet to access my dvd player etc..otherwise I'd keep it duct-taped or something ;)

Thanks!

Every time I hang up a new basketball net, birds eventually take parts of it for their nests, and I'm left with a few strings. Is there any way to make the birds not want my net? Thanks.

My wife and I built a house in 2003,and our water heater for the plumbing is shared with the in floor heat that we had installed for the basement. The problem we have at this moment everytime the water heater turns on, there is a knocking sound something feirce inside the tank itself. I have drained it in the past, because we have extremly hard water without a water softner. Is this going to be expensive?
I have replaced water heaters before, but this one is one of those high effiency ones.

Our neighbor (who's condo is attached to mine) has quite an unusual site. The other day, I had to go over and help diagnose a water leak when I notice this man had HUNDREDS of bags of clothing all over his basement.

I know this sounds like an exaggeration, but I kid you not, there are at least 100 plastic bags full of clothing in his basement!!!

I started looking in the bags and there were baby clothes, adult clothes, winter, summer....you name it, it was there in all shapes and sizes. Once he noticed me looking in a bag (and keep in mind they were all over the place) he slapped my hand and told me to 'get out of there'

Now, I'm worried about all this since not only are the clothes flammable, but the plastic bags they are in can't help a fire situation.

Considering my condo is right next to his, I fear that a fire to his basement will take out my unit too...what can I do?

I have a large size vase and would like cranberries at the bottom, with water in the vase and wouldl ike to put a floating sunflower candle for the top of the vase. The toruble is the cranberries float to the top. I was told to soak them in sugar solution to increase their density but that doesn't seem to work. I was told to put a less dense liquid in like rubbing alcohol but that is flammable and definatley not a good idea if there's a candle at the top. PLEASE HELP!

What is the whole purpose of going back 3/4" on this joist? See I am attempting to build a deck and I placed the joists every 24" [this was told to me by a cabinet maker] and once I finished the floor deck the deck was moving up and down and was not sold. My deck is 10X12 and the deck planks are 10' horizontal. So i came to the conclusion I did not place the joists

This was written by locksmith:
You measure 15 1/4", from the outside of your rim joist. That is where your first 16" on centre is. Measure back 3/4", mark a line here with a square, and an X on centre. You may find it easier to drive a small nail [only in an inch, or so ] close to the line, so that when your tape is hooked on the nail the tape clip is exactly at the outside edge of the line. Now pull out your tape, keeping it square and tight, and make make V mark at all the stud [ 16" ] marks indicated by your ta

I have a navy blue cloak and wanted to make it purple by adding scarlet. Also some azure breeches and gambeson, but would scarlet dye make these purple? The cloak worries me that it will turn near black. What do you think?
