I have a large size vase and would like cranberries at the bottom, with water in the vase and wouldl ike to put a floating sunflower candle for the top of the vase. The toruble is the cranberries float to the top. I was told to soak them in sugar solution to increase their density but that doesn't seem to work. I was told to put a less dense liquid in like rubbing alcohol but that is flammable and definatley not a good idea if there's a candle at the top. PLEASE HELP!

My first thought is to freeze them with water into a form that will fit into the bottom of your vase.

do you have only one centerpiece to deal with? if just one stick lead fishing weights in the cranberries

if you have lots of centerpiece to make, and the vase is wider at to than at the bottom, check with your local craft store for glass rounds. put the cranberries in , with just a enough water to cover them. place the glass round on top and add water slowly to avoid water bubbles. the glass should weigh the cranberries down, unless you have very bouyant berries

good luck

Put the berries and some sort of weight (glass or stones to mix with the berries or be hidden underneath) in a clear bag (sheer nylon or some kind of mesh). Arrange them as you like add water.

You could try topping them off with some clear marbles or pebbles. That would actually make a pretty effect with the candles.

Try boiling a few to see if that changes their properties.

you could always stick something kinda heavy to them. like tacs or something so they sink.
