We have a forced air gas funace. with floor vents for heat. we also have 2 wall vents with are not connected to the heat ducts and seem to blow cold air. My only guess is that the air is comming from the attic in the roof. Is this normal and if not what do I need to do?

I took the wires out of the old switch and tried to install them in the same places on the new switch. There were 3 wires; one connected to the top screw, one looped around the bottom screw and one in the hole on the back of the switch. I can't get the last wire in the hole on the back of the new switch. I tried grounding that wire but it didn't work when I flipped the breaker back on and now the dishwasher (which drains through the disposal and is on the same breaker) doesn't work either. I don't want to have to pay to hire an electrician if I'm just missing something small. I rewired all of the outlets in the kitchen and I assumed the switches would be just as easy. Help!

if i am going to build a retaining wall with 3 sides,2 sides @ 4ft by 3ft and one side 22ft by 3ft high, with blocks that you get from lowes measuring 8"longx3"highx5"depth. 45 blocks i believe. how deep will the footer be, and do i need to lay sand and stone first, or can i just pour in a ready mix concrete to lay my wall on. i just don't want my wall to sink when i build it. cheers. here is the blocks i mean http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=82790-215-5701&lpage=none

In Texas..........we have found dirt packed inside the walls of our house all around the tub and shower. We are pretty sure it was fire ants that brought it in. There are no fire ants in there now, but quite some time ago we had trouble with fire ants coming into the tub.

We had a leak in the plumbing going into the tub is how we found the dirt. We removed a section of sheetrock to get to the leak.

My question is, is all of this dirt harmful to the house or us? There is so much dirt, we would literally have to remove walls and maybe even the tub and shower to get it all out.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this? What should we do?

PC AND DirecTV clocks automatically changed?!?!?
I have a DirecTv receiver & desktop in the same room, plugged into seperate outlets. This morning I noticed that the clock on my PC had gone back an hour. I thought it was strange, but manually changed it to the correct time.

Tonite, I turned on the TV (DirecTV Tivo) & was looking through the guide. That's when I noticed that the time on my guide was off by an hour as well!

I am completely dumbfounded, as everything else in the house is fine. Just the electronics in this room. I tried to do a search, but no such luck. What could possibly be going on with the electric in this room to cause this?
