I'm remodeling my home and I would like to install the same flooring both in my family room and in the outside patio, to have an integrated feel. There is a glass sliding door dividing them.
I thought about stone but there are thickness considerations. Any suggestions?

Stone is not any thicker than tile so I don't see the issue. Porcelain tile, make sure you get it with a no slip finish if you use it outside. I think those are your best bet. You are somewhat limited by what will be appropriate for outside.

There is wide veriety of tile that works in both indoor and out. Yep we are no longer limited to mission tile or slate. Your local tile store or home improvement stores should be very helpful.
