Concentrate on your color scheme and avoid matchy-matchy theme linens. Purchase quality pieces. A single piece of coastal art (that you love!) on the wall will tell the story.
Add a bit of whimsy with one or two accent pieces, such as a lifeguard lamp (check it out on Ebay).
Have a small collection displayed together or throughout the room (seaglass in glass jars, seashells in twig baskets, wooden shore birds, etc.)
For visual and textural interest add a seashell wreath to the wall: http://www.thewreathdepot.com/sewr16in.html and Ebay.

Paint the walls a light shade of blue or gray. Use white gauzy sheers on the windows. Keep it very casual and bring out the coastal theme in subtle details- a vase full of sand and shells, a coastal print on the walls, shabby & distressed pieces. Maybe an oversized chair slipcovered in a gingham or weathered print. And, use a lot of natural materials like straw.
Have fun.

use subtle things .. not anything like leis hanging from the celing or a full wall mural .. a lamp here and a few little accesories there .. and dont do a hawaian bedspread .. just take the colors from your room and just get a plain bedspread
