I notice that the water is being pushed out the caulking below the pipe at the tub and surround seem. I put some pipe dope on the fittings both from the wall and where the spout screws on to the pipe. Would just a bad spout cause this to happen?

We've recently moved in with my mother in law for a few months and I know people do things differently but I was always taught to do dishes in a sink of water with HOT water and soap. My mother in law is a "clean as you go" person and she has one of those sponges with the tube filled with dish soap and she will just wash with whatever water temp comes out of the tap first which for a few moments is cold. I had no problem with that until she did this with a cutting board that she had cut raw chicken on... I am concerned firstly for the cleanliness of the board the next time I go to cut an apple on it for my daughter and secondly for the spread of germs and selomonela to other dishes. Are my concerns valid- does this sponge clean as well as soap and water in a sink? Will it spread germs? Is that cutting board clean?

I was working at a Haunted house this October and there was a light above me and another woman that worked there. I am not sure if it was a blacklight but when we looked at our rings, her's was glowing very brightly and mine did nothing at all. Does this mean that one of our diamonds was fake? I need an expert please

I've never purchased a leather sofa before, but due to recently diagnosed allergies this has been recommended to me. I'm pretty confident that I can choose one that looks good to me. What I'm wondering is if there are other things I should be looking for when I am shopping around...? There seems to be a wide range of prices on leather sofas out there. It's a bit overwhelming.

I am installing a new detachable shower head over a bath tub and have heard that the shower head cannot hang below the tub overflow when the flexible hose is fully extended. I cannot find any building code referenceonline that answers this question. Thanks for your help.

I removed a small (one sink vanity size) glued on bathroom mirror and discovered the builder had used disks - there were 5 of them for the small mirror - impossible to pry off - so I taped the mirror to the moon and had to break it using a large metal ruler to get it off...now I want to remove a large glued on mirror (two sink vanity size) - I'm assuming it is held on the same way - if there were 5 disks on the small one - there has to be at least double that for the large one...no way would I be able to control it as easily by breaking/prying like I did the small one - any ideas???? Is there some type of glue dissolver that I could try and pour behind it? I'm at a loss and REALLY want to get rid of the stupid mirror!!
HELP!!! Thanks in advance for any/all advise.

So, my freezer isn't as cold as it used to be. I turned up the dial in my fridge (the only dial) and it's better...but not best. My
ice cream still melts & then refreezes which sucks. But on top of that!!! My veggies freeze in the fridge. a frozen salad is just not the way to go.
So Yahoo...what is a girl to do? Can this be fixed or do I need a new one?

I have pants that fit me perfectly. And no, they are not tight. I can take them off without unbuttoning them. Well, After a while, they start getting a lot bigger and the legs get really big (b/c of the way I sit, the legs stretch a lot) and I end up having to pull up my pants for the rest of the day. These are my favorite pants! Thanks for your help.

My home is on a concrete slab and is very cold in the winter. I am planning on recarpeting and/or using hardwood (laminate). Is there something I can put down prior to carpeting to keep the coolness or moisture out?

My electric bill is $650/mo with pool - EGAD! Even tho I run pool only 4-6 hrs a day. Would it be cheaper to run pool off a generator? What size generator do I need for 2 HP motor? Would a back-up generator be OK since it won't run 24/7??

1) The manual says that the use of cast iron cookware is "not recommended". It says not to use glass as it will scratch. It says porcelain-enamel cookeware "may" scratch the surface. All it says for cast-iron is not recommended. Do you use cast iron, does it scratch? My cast iron pans aren't completely smooth.

2) Do you use the conditioner on the surface after you clean every time? Sometimes? Never?

3) Any other hints? Stories? Experiences?

This was a Christmas gift which is why I am completely clueless. I only found out I was getting it two days ago!
