How will you know how much ton of air conditioner in a certain area?

A good rule of thumb is one ton, or 12,000 btu, per 500 square feet of floor area. To get a more accurate estimation you need to take into account for shading provided by trees, how well your house is insulated, sizing and insualtion of your ductwork, number and type of windows, etc.
