Ease them into it. Tell them you want to paint the living room beige and the wood trim cream. Surely this neutral would be OK with them. Add color by hanging colorful curtains and adding colorful throw pillows. Another idea would be to hand a curtain rod at ceiling height wall to wall and then hang inexpensive curtains all across the one wall. This might be good behind your bed, for example. Fabric would add a nice touch and nice color.

A SERIOUS ANSWER: Do not withhold sex to extort things from your husband, unless you do not want a husband or do not want sex. From your additional details, it appears you are wise to this marriage destroying tactic. Paint costs money. If you just bought a house, you might be a little tapped out. However, now is an ideal time to paint if you have not moved all your furniture in. Use that angle because it is a good one. Figure out how many gallons of paint you will need by computing total wall surface area. When you have the $ figure, present it to your husband and also present some non-essential luxury to cut back on (like the bedroom set) or something to sell to make up for or almost make up for the paint cost. Your husband will be impressed. You will get the walls painted and have even better and more frequent sex.

Tell them you'll paint it back white before you move out.
Most renters will not let you paint.
(Or get some cloth and hang it against the wall with window curtain things... ive seen a house with some walls like that, it was kick ***.)
Just be creative, get somethings to hang up there. Dont leave alot of holes, because those will cost you, but be creative!

If your parents does not approve of you painting the walls, I would not do it. Respect your parents wishes and you will save a lot of problems. If the white walls are driving you "nuts" try decorating by adding color to the room and putting accessories on the wall (pictures, etc.) and on the tables. Adding plants (fake or live) will not be a bad idea. The only thing I can see is, you not make the rental home a permanent spot or another option is to see if you can buy the home from your parents. Check out the links below to a few white wall rooms where color was added.

1. first you need a good timing.
ask them when they are in good mood( or ask them to let you have it as christmas gift or birthday gift)
2. Then you have to tell them you understand why they want remain white.
3. then you need to tell them what benifits they can get if they allow you to paint the color. ( you won't bother them.help yourconcertration when you study at your room, you can sleep better. You can offer to baby sit the little sister once a month, so they wil have time to do other thngs. etc..)
It's all about give and take

Hmmmm, with my parents I would go ahead and do it anyway, then when they say something I would claim that they told me it was ok and just pretend that I misunderstood our conversation.
It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.
