I'm trying to stop a blackberry invasion. It seems to me that Round Up used to be instant death for any plant it touched. Lately, those gallon-size, pump and squirt containers just seem to brown the leaves a little, then they spring back.

I started out on many of the floors with stripper, sandedn with floor sander, restained, and polyurethaned. They look gorgeous. I have gotten to my bedroom however to find that there is nothing that will penetrate to the wood there is some substance a creamy tan that covers these floors. At first I thought they were just bleached wood I was dealling with. After 2 months of fooling with it and scrubbing with vinegar water I have noticed its starting to come off like paint. I have since this discovery used paint stripper and its doesn't come of but in streaks. I have taken steel wool and scrubbed. This is taking forever and have wasted 1 month already on the floor of this remodel. What can I use to speed up the process?

If you put lime and fertilizer on your lawn, spread half of it as you walk north to south, the other half as you walk east to west.

I work in an 8 story apartment building that houses primarily retired old folks. I live in Rochester NY. There are roughly 200 apartments in the building. I noticed within a week of working there that the place is a total fire-trap. There are no sprinkler systems, no phones in the 2 elevators, no building-wide fire alarm incase a fire breaks out, just a few single fire alarms and the ones inside the apartments. There is a fire hose system on each floor, but no hoses. I am very worried that some night a fire will break out on one of the lower floors and many hard of hearing, slow, older people on the upper floors will have no chance of making it out. The only person on duty from 12am-8am is the doorman and theres no way he could stay and call 200 units and warn them. Every year this building passes inspection. How can this be? Is the apartment manager paying someone off?

We want to put an addition on our home - adding another story - we want to do much of the work ourselves but are curious how much we could be looking at for a basic 2nd story with no interior walls. We would probably want an area plumbed for a new bathroom in the new space, too. We can do interior walls, bathroom fixtures, flooring and most of the electrical ourselves. We would also need to run the forced air for our heater, and air conditioning, up to this new space. I'm looking for very rough numbers just so I have some idea of what we are looking out - $50,000 or $100,000 ? I really have no clue when it comes to construction costs. Is there a "typical" cost per square foot? We are in the Pittsburgh area if that makes a difference. Thanks.

My child peed on the bed and it soaked through to the mattress. I tried wiping it up - but you can't get the urine that soaked into the mattress so it still smells horrible. I have an air purifier and I tried putting it on the spot but that is not helping. I can't be the only person who has ever had this happen. If you have any ideas for cleaning up this stinky mess - they would be greatly appreciated!

I just found out that my homeowners insurance company wants to charge me $300 more per year because I have some old solar panels on my roof. They were put on by the previous owners a long time ago I think. They are for a solar water heater but they aren't connected to anything because I just have a regular water heater in my garage. They are ugly as hell and I would just as soon take them down as I'd rather have a tankless system eventually anyways. My insurance is already $3150 per year for a 140K house (Florida) so its high enough as it is. It seems stupid to pay $300 a year for something I'm not even using. Who can I call to take them down or can I do it myself or are solar water heaters cheap enough now that I should consider one?

Anyone know of a company that will fix a broken window seal. Located in the Vancouver/Surrey area of B.C. All of the companies I have contacted only fix their own and I have no idea who originally installed it.
Thank you!
