Does anyone have any nifty thrifty ideas or things they have done to winterize their home and/or lessen gas or energy bills... Keep in mind that I have somewhat limited funds I can't immediately do engage in any elaborate projects but I'll keep them in mind if you can suggest any. Anything that can cut down on my spending or any energy efficient appliances, BE SPECIFIC, as I mentioned in my previous question I'm a babe in the woods on this one I might not understand all the mumbo jumbo and terminology. Bear with me please and once serious answers only please! Thanks and GOD bless!

The singles on my family's overlook haven't been replaced since the house was built in the 1970s, it's about time I figure to replace them. Apart from a ladder, what tools do I need to take off the old shingles since they are starting to look warped and out of shape. How much will this cost me for all materials assuming I do all the labor of putting them up???

We have just finished closing in the garage to make a bedroom. There are two windows which go to the outside of the house and a door going into the house. We used quite a bit of mud and so there is a lot of the white dust on all the walls and floor. Are there any easy ways to 'clean it up' so that we can start painting?

My dad has a garage about 100 ft. from our house, I can see it from my window upstairs. I want to add on to it to have a small kitchen, restroom, living/bed room. The garage is about 30 x 20 ft. There is about 40 ft next to the garage where I can add on. Any ideas?

I put Osmocote in the plant & since I did that it has started to turn yellow. So, I took out every piece I could find in the plant, hoping this would stop the yellowing. This is what is in the Osmocote: N-19%, Ammoniacal Nitrogen-10%, Phosphate-6%, and Soluble Potash-12%. Would this be the reason for the yellowing & will the yellow ever turn back green? Is this a very strong fertilizer? I should tell you all that after the yellowing started I added Epsom salt. I also, have a grow light over the plant to give it the extra light it needs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, Happy Halloween fellow Yahooers.

The name of the shrub apparently sounds like "duvenay," and I am looking for the correct spelling. I don't know if this is a cultivar name or part of a scientific name. The shrub has red berries. Possibly has something to do with Elaeagnus umbellata but my information is incomplete. Thank you.
