Oak wood front door (exterior only) - trying to remove some kind of black paint or stain from front door but is not coming off well. we've tried stripper already a bunch of times, tried sanding the color out but sanding has started to remove decorative grooves in door and the door is only a few shades lighter. is there any known fast heavy duty paint stripper product out there that anyone knows of?

This is the first dress I've made that needs a zipper... I sewed it in last night but it was kind of puckery so I have to take it out and try again. If I use a zipper foot will that help? Any other suggestions?

The downstairs (two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a hallway) are rust-colored. I'd like to paint it a lavendar or peach or something more soothing. I've never painted before... should I do it myself or hire it? Does anybody have any tips if I do paint myself? Any color suggestions?

I'm just wondering if there is a way to get a cheaper version of a waste overflow drain for a clawfoot tub. Could I buy a pvc one? How would I measure the tub to know what to buy? I don't need it to be pretty. Its not going to show.

bought those cheapy roll up vinyl blinds & painted them? If so, what kind of paint did you use. Also, what about covering them with fabric? Would'nt you just use a spray on adhesive to get the fabric to adhere?

With the temperature dropping, and a wooded area that has been cleared behind our house, our fears have just been confirmed...mice.
The first night I saw one I rushed out and bought the conventional spring loaded trap and nailed one on the first try. A couple of nights later, while my wife and I sat comfortably on our sofa, another one ran across the floor.
Now I'm playing Tom and Jerry with them (at least one that I know of). I've tried both peanut butter and cheese. This morning I checked the trap and the mouse had eaten the cheese around the metal hook that is supposed to set off the trap...like he knew what NOT to touch.
I think I'm dealing with a wiley veteran mouse here...any advice other than calling Orkin?
