I have an Empire natural gas heater and the pilot won't stay lit. The manual says to call a technician, but I was wondering if anyone had ideas that I could try first.

basement flat with no extract in bathroom (bathroom is at ground/ entry level, rest of flat with openable windows all one level down, no extract for kitchen downstairs either. There is no external wall to bathroom and no way of neatly routing a proper extract through to outside wall. There is a fixed light in stairwell. Thinking a vent in this might be easier to install than through external staircase wall. This would at least provide some ventilation to the flat. Any better ideas?

My windows are all recessed and all the widths are different to the standard sizes available. I know you can get custom made blinds but these are too expensive. Can you trim the width of wooden blinds, or do I have to get a specialist?

I sleep during the day, so I am looking to drape some heavy fabric over my windows to block the sunlight. They are about 6 ft long, 3 1/2 ft wide. I do know the conversions from yards to feet, but I don't know anything about fabric, how it is cut, ect. How many yards will I need for the three windows? Also, does anyone have a suggestion as to what kind of fabric I could get that would be good at blocking sunlight? Thanks!

My little boy and I are moving into a newly built house in 3 months time, at each stage of the development we have been offered various options with the interior fittings & layout.
The Q above is the latest option to decide (might as well select 1 as there is no cash alternative), but I havent a clue? It already has large showers in the bathrooms so would a wetroom be that useful?
Any advice or opinions please?
Thank you
Rach.

We have seen this ghost twice - The first time we saw figures in our bedroom and the second time came on saturday where a flash of light (like a camera flash)appeared across our front room and was witnessed by 4 people.

The ghost also touched my face whilst in bed with what felt like freezing fingers - i'm scared - we need an exorcism or something.

In the last month there has been 2 gas leaks from my boiler... after the first, they upgraded but did not replace it, and then a month later there has been another very major one.

I just spoke to my estate agents and I may be paranoid, but it sounded like they think my flatmate and I are responsible. I know nothing about boilers, and what would cause problems with them- is there really anything we could have done to cause this?

Im just very worried because I wasn't even there when it happened, but it's a joint tenancy so if anything goes wrong that they deem our fault, I'm equally liable.
