I have mine before the pressure tank. I have a high iron content which would clog up my compressor. I went with the Culligan HD950 whole house filter it is by far the best filter out there. My water is blood red without the filter. And to be honest any one who tells you to put it on before the pressure tank would have to actually test the water to determine what your purifying. If you have high levels of sulfur iron or other material, you run a risk of damageing your pressure tank. your water softner should be after the pressure tank to soften the water before use

The well pump should feed to the pressure tank and then the pressure control switch. After this comes the treatment system.

AFTER... THE TANK MAY GET SAND , ETC ... THAT CAN BE BLOWN OFF VIA HOSE BIB BETWEEN TANK & WHOLE HOUSE FILTER. MY FIRST ONE, I PUT 1 WHOLE HOUSE FILTER, BUT ON NEXT 3 HOMES, I PUT 2 , TOP ONE WAS SIGHT GLASS, BELOW SOLID ( IF TOP WAS DIRTY, SO WAS BOTTOM). SOFTENER IS 3RD, & I WOULD PUT 2 BIG GATE VALVES TO ISOLATE FILTERS & SOFTENER!
