Most ceiling fans have high/medium/low settings; which is the most economical? I'm wondering if resistance must be created to operate the fan at lower speeds and this increased resistance causes increased power consumption.

I know rain and temperature changes affect the changing leaves, but does more/less rain make the leaves brown? Do hotter/colder summers make a difference at all?

When our house gets dirty I feel out of control and upset because my fiancee won't help me by picking up after herself. I feel so overwelmed and frustrated. The only time she will help clean is when I ask her too or if I get upset about how the dirty house is making me feel crazy and out of control. Then I feel bad when we have a spat and she acts if I did something bad by her facial expressions(like I scolded her which I didn't). Please help give me some good advise and I don't want to break up or leave her.

I'm a thirty-year-old single guy. I like dogs, the outdoors, my Jeep Wrangler, autumn, good wine, travel, photography...

I'm trying to integrate my "likes" into my home. I have painted my living/dining room two colors of khaki, and a chalkboard-green wall. I have a brown leather couch, and walnut tables and bookcases. I've also remodeled my guest bathroom - new flooring, hardware, paint, etc.

However, I'm trying to get ideas on decorating... accent pieces, dining room furniture, bedroom furniture (blank slate right now) and my own bathroom. I need help finding websites for "bachelor pads" and masculine design (not a lot of flowery-things). I'd like to redo the kitchen with the small tiles as a backsplash.

I'd like to find websites/books/magazines that show off a masculine home. Pictures are a must!!

The main goals are to have a cool guy's house and up the resale value.

Serious responses only... any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there!

This may be a strange question, but I left a hot pink post it note on my desk and when I removed the note it left a stain! The furniture was very expensive and I can't seem to find a way to lift the stain. I've tried Old English and other cleaners but nothing has worked. I wrote to 3M and complained about it, but have yet to receive an answer. Does anyone here know of something I can use that won't damage the wood further or a good resource to go to?

Serious, thoughtful answers only please.

Thanks!

I am in college and am using the dorm's sewing machine. The pattern calls for machine basting and I am not sure how to do this. It is a typical singer machine. Also I was wondering if hand basting would be easier.

Secondly, I am going to have to gather the dress at the seams. But I am not sure what the best way to do that is.

I have a pretty bay window in my kitchen. The middle window is 45 wide and 45 long, and the windows on either side are 25 wide by 25 long. My cabinets are ivory, and my walls are a sage green. I need privacy as the window faces north and directly toward my neighbor.

I would like to make Roman Shades, but have never done so before. Any tips/advice on making them, or suggestions for other treatments? Thanks!
