A futon or day bed is out of the question. It is an efficiency apartment and it's all one room. I will only be living there 6 months and I don't want to spend that much money. But I do want to make it as comfortable as possible!

We recently installed wood floors and I don't want the chairs to scratch. I have seen people do this but never thought to ask since we didn't have it. What would be the best way to do this so the pieces don't fall off, but yet not damage my chairs?

I need to replace the "greenboard" and cement board in my shower stall; which measures 3 feet by 3 feet by 8 feet. I'd have a much easier time if I could just hang the drywall & cement board (both measure 4 feet by 8 feet) vertically (8 foot length from floor to ceiling & cut the 4 foot wide section to fit the shower's width).

What are the reasons for hanging drywall "type" material horizontally instead of vertically?

We discovered beautiful pine floors under our carpeting in our 1850's mill house. We have re-finished, sanded, and polyurethaned them, but they are not tongue-in-groove, and are open to the bsmt, which has some mold. My wife is allergic, and we don't need dirt raining down into the bsmt, or mold coming up.

I've pressure washed it and have used a degreaser on it with no luck. The stain is large and the oil was there for several days before I knew it. Waterproofing has been worn off the deck. Any ideas on how to repair the damage before I water seal it?

I removed a sticker from a plastic surface, but the remains of it i.e. glue/adhesive parts are left behind and creates quite a mess. Do I use thinner or what commercial product can I use to remove the sticker adhesive completely? Thanks!
