Anyone have a good idea to rid their property of Grackles? They have invaded recently, and I have taken down all my bird feeders, but they are still everywhere. I have horses and chickens, they harrass the chickens and are chasing all the songbirds away.
I cannot shoot them.

My furnace kicked on today for the first time this season. It worked at the end of last season, but now it is blowing only cold air. I replaced the thermostat (meant to do this anyway) and still no heat. I pulled the service panel off and the LED is blinking 3 times.

I have two other furnaces in my home and the other two are working fine. Do I have to make a service call or is there anything else I can do?

I live in Southern Ontario, Zone 5b and it gets fairly cold here in the winter. The rose in question is planted in a pot (I have nowhere to plant it in the garden, so that's out), fairly large-ish in size (the pot), I'd say, it's about 18 inches across (round) and about 12 inches deep. The only other option I have is to put it in the garage where it will not get much light and very little water. Will it die either way? It's a Sunrise Cupido rose. I like it a lot and would like to keep it. Bringing it into the house overwinter is not an option.

The salt water softner overflowed while we were away and laid on the cement covered with carpet floor and dried up that way. When I pulled up the carpet, the floor was all pitted and hunks of cement came up. I have swept up the mess but am now wondering what can make is smooth and ready to paint?

New to peonies, have one bush of double at my house. After it blooms and the flowers fall off, I get these pod like things, three to a cluster, where the flower was. I'm just wondering if I can plant these pods or if they are for the new flower to emerge. They don't bloom twice a year do they?

We moved into a house with a dishwasher but hadn't used it for nearly a year and a half. Then, when we gave it a try, the water inside did not drain. Could this be related to our new garbage disposal unit that was installed more recently?

I recently inherited a hanging lamp that is somewhere between the 50's and 70's era. The people I inherited it from were heavy smokers for years, and as a result, the lamp is coated in nicotine. I'm not sure what I can use on it that won't damage the paint on it. It is kind of iridescent with hand painted roses on it
