I am building a new home and having a copper roof put on the porch. It faces the western sun. How can I encourage it to turn green faster?

That green color is actually rust on the copper- really! Instead of being a reddish color, copper rust is green! So, I guess you'd need to get it wet.

I AM A ROOFER IN PHOENIX AZ AND HAVE DONE MANY COPPER ROOFS.....IN THE SUN IF NOTHING IS DONE, THEN THE COPPER WILL TURN TO A DULL BLAND BROWN COLOR, TO TURN THE COPPER COLOR OR BROWN COLOR TO A TURQUOISE COLOR TO LOOK NATURALLY AGED, WE APPLY APPLE VINEGAR. YOU WILL NEED AROUND A GALLON FOR EVERY 400 SQ FEET. THIS IS TO BE SPRAYED ON WITH A GARDEN SPRAYER. AND EVENLY ACROSS THE ROOF. LET IT SETTLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE RAIN AND THE OXIDATION WILL LOOK GREAT! BE CAREFULL WHEN SPRAYING NOT TO PUT TO MUCH ON ONE AREA AND HAVE IT START TO STREAM. THIS WILL OCCUR WHEN THE RAIN HIT THE ROOF.
BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.
