We moved into a house with a dishwasher but hadn't used it for nearly a year and a half. Then, when we gave it a try, the water inside did not drain. Could this be related to our new garbage disposal unit that was installed more recently?

I lived in a house with this form of subject. there's a hose from the back of the dishwasher that drains the water. If this hose will become blocked, it won't drain. sometimes the hose will by no ability be blocked and it nevertheless won't drain. in case you have a rubbish disposal, the dishwasher hose is probable linked to it, and if the rubbish disposal is blocked or malfunctioning, the dishwasher won't drain. earlier pulling the dishwasher out to examine the hose, eliminate the water from the dishwasher, the two by ability of utilising a siphon or bailing the water out with a cup or soaking it up with a rag. Then pull out the dishwasher and take off the hose interior the back. that's probable hung on with a hose clamp, that's secured with a screw. eliminate this hose (and detach it from the different end besides, probable yet another hose clamp) and consider it for blockage. in case you probably did no longer bail out all the water on the start, once you're commencing up the hose, water will finally end up on the floor. try this extensive-unfold, then look to the rubbish disposal, if latest.

It sounds as though your dishwasher needs a new pump installed. Did you know for best results, always turn on the garbage disposal, before running the dishwasher.

try using the dishwasher at least twice a week to keep your unit in shape and also to wash away the water drippings. if the water still does not drain, call a plumber.

The drain pipe could be plugged. Try unhooking it and running hot water thru it to see if thats the problem.
