I notice in sound studios the grooves are toward the room. So, if I'm trying to keep hallway noise out of a room, I'm thinking grooves should be turned towards the door. What do you think?

I am getting ready to paint and I have 2 gallons of flat latex- but looking at it, I think I will need more and I have 1 gallon of satin latex and I wanted to know if I can mix them together. I thought since they are all latex it wouldn't matter, but then I hear it does matter, can someone who really knows help me out? I looked online but I could't seem to find anything...

I'm in trouble! My tank in my bathroom has sprung a leak. Its 4 .15am on Sat morning. My partners at work so cant help me. could a plumber tell me what to do? This is an old house-56 yrs- and the original water tank is still in it. It is a triangular tank in the corner of the bathroom. The water in this is heated by a backboiler in the fire downstairs-there is no immersion heater. I turned on the tap and tried to run the water out of the tank but its being filled by the cold water mains supply. Theres a tap or a key or a faucet, whatever you call it, under the stairs on the water pipe. It wont budge for me so I dont know do I turn it clockwise or anticlockwise? Its so stiff I'll have to hit it with the hammer and if I hit it the wrong way I'll b in worse trouble. Does anyone know which way it should turn? Are these things universal or do they differ from country to country? Im in Ireland. I have the cold tap running downstairs to stop the tank gettin too full or should It b upstar

It seems like Home Depot has more of the work horse, utilitarian stuff, and lowes more of the designer stuff....for example...more toilets at HD, more toilet seats at Lowe's....more varites of plywood and drywall at HD....more flooring selection at Lowes...
I Think they sort of both have their place. but the Lowes is about 1/2 mile from my house, so i prefer Lowes

What one thing would you buy for your house? Just one thing! Not a re-model or a total re-do. I would buy the biggest sofa, that I could find so that my hubby and I could hang out and be comfy! Something that we could just sink into!

I have about 6 inches of water in my basement from Tropical Storm Ernesto. My sump pump kicks in about every 15 seconds and runs for a second or two, then stops. I think it's totally overwhelmed by all the water. Do you think the constant abrupt, repetetious draw on the outlet could cause a fire? I'm not to worried about the pump itself causing a fire, because it's covered wiht 6 inches of water !
