Go to an auto parts store that sells supplies for body shops. They have an adhesive remover that fits in an electric drill and works like a big eraser. It will buff away the glue and shine your tub like new. In body shops it is used to take pin stripes off or the glue that goes behind the trim molding.

Add extra detail re: is this tub plastic or is it enameled metal? If it's plastic (fiberglass...) then you won't want to use chemicals (which I gather you already have). If it's enameled, there is a squeeze-tube gel adhesives-remover you might use.

Or maybe go to Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and buy some dry-ice. Hold it with a towel and rub the glue with it. This will make the glue really brittle, then chip it up the way the guy described using new single-edge razor blades.

Don't "burn" yourself with the dry ice.

if the glue that you are trying to remove is a "contact glue" Lacquer thinner should work. But most likely it is a "silicone" type of glue. and if it is. You would be wise to go to a hardware store and ask. I do know there is a remover the does the trick for silicone but the name eludes me at the moment
Good luck

Try a single-edged razor blade, slanted against the tub surface, and just go slowly. It will generally work and not scratch. Get a new blade. You do not need any tool to hold the razor blade, just use your fingers. But buy a five or ten pack of blades, they're only a buck or two.
