It's monsoon season in west texas! Our house used to be my dad's workshop,it was built on a slope(everything flows downhill toward the draw)and there is a step going from the kitchen to the livingroom that is not very well blocked off to the underneath of the house. We have recieved 4 inches of rain in a 24 hr period, and my livingroom had two inches of standing water. The rain has stopped for now,my kids and I have swept most of the water out and placed fans around the living room, but I'm afraid it will start flooding again before my husband gets home from work. The phone is out,so I am unable to contact him.I have sent an e-mail to my dad,but am unsure if he will check his mail.I have also walked to all the nearest neighbors, but no one is home and even if they were,I doubt their phones work either. It is not a crisis level situation, but I am pretty darned scared. What is my best course of action?Someone please repond and help me!!

I got a long stem rose as a gift a few weeks ago, it bloomed beautifully and then slowly dried itself out without slumping over like most of the cut roses I received in past did, now I have just the stem and little sprouts between the leaf sections...the stem is simply set in water and has lots of sunlight and seems to be loving it...is it possible to root the stem and create a rose plant from this?

I have an old countertop and it's a solid color laminate from the 70s or something. I want to replace it. I wonder if I could buy new laminate and put it on top of the old one. Is that possible?

I live in missouri (not sure what zone that is?) when should I dig up my elephant ears, and how far back should I cut them for winter storage? Is an unheated garage ok for storage or should I put them in my heated basement?

The lady at Home Depot told me I might not need to seal it, that the paint would be enough. I bought a line from Behr called Kitchen and Bath which supposedly gives a stronger finish? What do you guys think????????
