Women's Health - March 2007

Ok this is a problem I've been having. I am training to be a lifeguard and I figured I would have at least tried a tampon before now, but no....I just can't get over my strange fear of wearing one. Is it possible to swim without one without problems with leaking? I heard somewhere that wearing a pad in your bathing suit works, but I'm totally clueless. And no I won't wear any of those cup things of any sort.

My friend Had a hysterectomy 4 months ago and Last night she started crying. Cried for about 2 hours then she started Pouring Blood. She said the bleeding has stoped But she is in really bad Pain Im really worried about her! Is this Normal or what happend? Do I need to take her to the dr?

.I've had a headache behind my eyes and my forehead for about l4 days. Finally my dr. calls in a script for amoxicillin. Today is the fifth day I'm on it and I don't feel that much better. I still feel alot of pressure in my head and a foggy feeling. I'm I being impatient, should I give the antibiotic more time or go back to dr.

Doesn't anyone ever feel uncomfortable when the doctor checks your cervix? I mean, spreading your legs for your doctor to see your private part is very uncomfortable. I know it's for health reasons and they have to do it though, but what is your opinion?

i didnt have a period for three months and never took a pregnancy test, and now this month and last month ive been having my periods agian. My cramps are much worse and my periods are not as thick as usual. They havent been normal and ive been depressed about many things. I need help to know whats going on. I am a 23 yo female in good health. I eat well, and don't eat particulary spicy foods or anything that would typically give heartburn. I have had a metallic taste in my mouth since last Wednesday (9 days ago) and for the past 3 days have had little bouts of heartburn/indigestion even when eating things like PB&J sandwiches and fruit.

What could be causing the metallic taste/heartburn/indigestion?

Hi, I started synthroid 25mg about 2 weeks ago and the first week I had alot of energy, but this week I feel very tired and the first week as well I lost 6 pounds this week only 1 pound and I feel very exahusted, do you think the doc needs to up my dosage? Or is something wrong? I also am having symptoms I am going to get my period wich is weird cause Im soooo irregular, and thats normal for me. Should I call my doctor or are these normal reactions to the medication?

Last Monday I had sex with a man whose counterparts were fairly large (compared to me). It was very painful for me considering I hadn't been sexually active in a while.

Anyway, shortly afterwards I noticed that I was very sore and a little bit itchy. I was even bleeding but after a few days I came to the conclusion that it was just the beginning of my menstrual cycle.

Now, my period is gone but the itchiness and soreness still continues. I woke up this morning and I am very, very swollen to the point where I'm scared and concerned. I have discharge but there is no odor or bumps. It's just the excessive swelling and soreness that's frightening me.

I know that there's something wrong, but I'm afraid to tell my friends or family. Plus, where do I go for help? Should I be screened for an STD at a clinic first or should I see a gyno about the swelling?

The Dr. says im fine i have not missed a pap test but now in the last year i am loosing hair on my legs there is non under my arm i have very little eyebrows and even less lower i am 45 anyone else had this happen .I'm not upset about the cycle but my Dr. said it would start again if i would take Birth control pills. ( But no thanks)

About a week ago I felt a hard bump on the inside lip of my vagina. It has gotten bigger (about the size of a pea) and hurts when touched. Could it be an ingrown hair? It is near where the public hairline ends. Has anyone ever had something like this?

I usually have horrible periods. They're heavy painful and last for ages. But i just got it this morning and its not painful at all and theres hardly any blood and its really brown like how it usually is at the end of your period. what could this mean? I was really ill about 2 weeks ago and lost alot of weight could this have something to do with it? thanks alot for reading!

I have spotting for about 3 weeks now. Last couple days it began to be more...like a light period. I have started to have cramps.... light cramps. Im beginning to feel worried. Has anyone felt something similar to this? Oh... and im 11 weeks pregnant... and on thursay I have an ultrasound to find out whats causing the bleeding. btw... I also went to the doctor last week and they used a doppler to see if we can hear the baby's heart beat.... howver the heartbeat could not be found. The doctor than said its most likely a bit to early. Im worried.. can anyone... tell me if they been in a similar situation.
