um well... technically, you shouldn't be asking what a booger is made of, but instead, 'what matter makes up a booger?'. do you see how that makes more sense? it's is made when your cherry pops and someone puts salt and pepper in your nose.

A booger is made up of the mucus in your nose that is there to act a filtration for the un-clean air you are breathing in. when you pick or blow out the booger it is the mucus and dirt, bacteria, etc. that the mucus caught before it entered your lungs.

i suppose it is made up from the mucus that lines the nasal pasages combined with all the dust and bits that you enhale throughout the day, i don't really know why the are usually green though.
very random question.
also why have you asked this in womens health, didn't you know us girlies don't get boogers and such :- )...

my doctor says its allergins that get trapped in your nose that sticks to the mucus and dries....thats coming from a guy who knows noses
