I've been eating a lot of carrots lately, and I've noticed that under certain lighting, my skin looks BRIGHT ORANGE when compared to others. In sunlight it is difficult to see, but when I'm indoors I have an odd orange-ish glow. I eat about a cup of carrots daily.. but with my low body weight (98 pounds) is this too much? Is it bad to eat so many carrots?

I've NEVER had this problem before. The last month I have not been able to sleep at night. I feel tired and get in bed, but lay there for hours and only end up getting about 4 hours per night. Then I'm SO tired the next day so that I can hardly function. I've missed work because of it. A few nights I've just been laying there and my heart starts racing, but I don't feel worried or anxious or anything like that. Don't say thyroid because that's not it :)...I've been on the same thyroid meds for sixth months and my levels were good last time I was at the dr. I'm also on Asmanex and I'm 21. Any suggestions?

During the school year I generally get anywhere from 5-8 hours of sleep a night, because of the extracurricular activities and advanced classes I am involved in. I wake up at about 6:20, which is cutting it close enough as it is, having to leave for school at 6:50. However I find that it is not until around noon that I am fully awake and able to participate in conversations and listen the best in class, and by the time I go to sleep I am still wide awake... I have tried drinking coffee in the morning to wake myself up but can't stand the taste or smell. Are there any other ways that I could wake up before leaving the house?

Also, yes I do eat breakfast, usually about 1.5 servings of Bran Flakes.

It is not a severe as a peanut allergy. But I ate one, I'd have to be rushed o the hospital. Benedryl couldn't help. I can eat avacado, they still make my throat itch, but can eat it with no symptoms. Does anyone know? I tell doctors and they just shrug. It gets annoying when you have to ask, "Is there bananas in this?" Then the questions....

I am also extremely allergic to all shellfish?

Any info would be great...thanks!

My mental health case manager came to visit me, & I ate breakfast but I hadn't eaten lunch yet. She popped up unexpectedly at my door. I was taking a nap. She asked me to come outside so she can make an appointment for me to see her next week. If she has her paperwork inside with her. Carries the book to my house, I don't see why she makes me go out in the 105 degree heat by her car, when she can set it up inside with cool air conditioning. It was so hot outside that I was getting weak & dizzy, & I felt like I was seeing stars. I was about to pass out, & she threatened to call 911 on me. I BEGGED her not to call them. All I needed to do was eat something. Why make me take an unnecessary hospital trip? & she thought I was refusing to eat because of my depression, which wasn't true. I eat every meal daily. & because I'm depressed, she thinks I'm at risk for self-harm when I'm not. & she falsely accused me of not taking my meds when I take them faithfully.

if you recieve horrible care while in the emergency not only from the doctor on call but also from the nurses where there wasnt any so called evaluation or conclusion to the problem yet five days later you recieve better treatment from a reg doctor who takes exrays and orders an mri because he couldnt really explain what was wrong unless the mri is performed. mind you the er doctor just said take these pain pills, no xrays no mri just take these pills and see someone else. do i have any retaliation against the er doctor for lack of treatment or against the nurses who were rude. instead of making things comfortable this visit was total oppisite.

I always go in with my mother to see the doctor. On numerous occasions the doctor spends the bulk of the appointment time trying to fix his computer than actually dealing with the patient. When we ask him questions or to explain things in relation to her medical circumstances he either hedges the question or completely ignores us - literally, there will be no response and he will even immediately get up to show us the door. This cannot be right surely!?

Like many U.S. citizens, I cannot afford medical care. A recent trip to the doctor set me back tons of money that I didn't have in the first place. I was laid off from work earlier this year and haven't found gainful employment (I live in an economically depressed area - one in which two of the major factories employing thousands of people recently shut down, saturating the job market.)

So, how hard is it to get medical assistance? Do you have to jump through hoops? Also, would my being on assistance affect me if I enlisted in the military (which I'm doing later this year/early next year?) I don't want it to come back and bite me on the butt because someone has a problem with it.

Okay. I'm really nervous about my dad. He's a construction worker and is out in the blistering heat all the time. He doesn't usually wear sunscreen. He has all these brown spots on his skin (shoulders) and has a sore on the tip of his ear that has never healed. I'm afraid that all of this exposure has maybe made skin cancer a possibility. Any advice on how I can keep my dad healthy and safe??

Symptoms:

Scaly skin
Sunspots
Sores that don't heal
Red skin
A sore or spot that bleeds or become crusty

Hello,
I live in richmond VA where an RN's starting salary is about 40,000. I understand in Northern VA up around washington DC in areas such as falls church, potomac mills, fairfax and other places the salaries are higher. Does anybody have a general range for a new hire new RN with little tech expirience? I just dont want to be gullible and paid too little because i come from an area that pays nurses less. Please seriouse answers only.
