Colud you havea charlie hourse for 8 hours and I don't mean the aftermath of one where your leg just kinda hurts. I'm asking because my friend said that she had one for 8 hours and I said are you sure it wasn't the pain you have after one and she said no, so can you have one that long?

I don't know for sure. I would think if it lasted that long, it was similar to times when I've had muscles just knot up badly and refuse to release until I use some heat (or the muscle spasm's - I've had that in my back before for length's of time). But I never classified them as charlie horses. I always thought those were those pains you got when the muscle knotted up quickly but then released just as quickly (especially in the leg). I've never heard of or experienced anything lasting that long. And when I experience that kind of symptom lasting that long I figured it was no longer considered a charlie horse (now I'm curious where we got the term charlie horse) but rather a tightened muscle. -shrugs- I'll try asking my husband when he gets home (he knows odd trivia bits like this) and see if he knows :) (I'll update this then).

I am susceptible to "charlie horses", but never have had one for anything more than ten minutes. I've had the pain afterward, last for a day or so.

I don't have an official answer, but if you have ever had one, it feels like an eternity. In that kind of agony, time seems to stand still.

Try a Yahoo search for "restless legs syndrome" + "natural remedies".

Maybe she is having one spasm after another, I've had that happen. It seems that for me, once they start I have one right after another, it is awful.
