I always go in with my mother to see the doctor. On numerous occasions the doctor spends the bulk of the appointment time trying to fix his computer than actually dealing with the patient. When we ask him questions or to explain things in relation to her medical circumstances he either hedges the question or completely ignores us - literally, there will be no response and he will even immediately get up to show us the door. This cannot be right surely!?

Unfortunately, lack of response to your questions, while rude is not neccessarily unethical and definately not illegal, though quite possibly unprofessional.

If you are unhappy with your mum's doctor, reporting him to the Board would be unproductive, you could try discussing it with the office manager or medical supervisor, and they could discuss his patient intertaction with him.

Good bedside manner is a gift and cannot be taught. Doctors are usually bordering on a narcicistic personality disorder, and many are just plain rude.

You need to decide if you are getting quality care, not good hand holding. If you feel your mum's care is inappropriate, seek another doctor. We all have personalities, and they cannot always mesh.

As for the computer, they are here and unfortunately, take up 50% of the doctor's time with a patient. This is also why the doctors are always running late. On average doctors throughout the world see an average of 4-6 patients an hour 9-10 hours per day. I have seen anywhere from 25-96 patients in one day depending on the circumstances. When I could just jot down a few notes in medical abbreviations this was quick, now that I have to type the consults, and therefore watch my typing for typos, grammar and spelling, it takes 3 times as long to make a patient note. If it is the first ime I have seen a patient often the note will run 4-5 pages. While I have a transcriptionist to assist , if I dictate every note, I spend about 3-4 hours after clinic or the whole weekend sittting with the dictaphone, and due to health care privacy rules I cannot take the charts with me to finish. Add to that phone calls from other clinics, pharmacies, and hospitals, as well as from patients who called in instead of coming in for a visit. and the 10 minute patient appointment runs out very quickly.

I try to work well with my patients, and I try my best to make sure they have no questions, but I will tell you that we often hear the same questions many times a day. It is not because the information was not explained, but patients are scared and want reassurance. Unfortunately, we no longer have time to hold hands with the patients.

I wish we did!

Sorry about your issues.

1. If the doctor is in a clinic with other doctors ensure that you ask for a different doctor and clearly explain your concerns.

2. If he works on his own just do not go back, talk to people in your area and see if you can get recommendations from others. There is nothing wrong with shopping around and ask the new doctor if they might obtain your mothers records from the previous doctor.

In all doctors are like everyone else some are caring and others are to into themselves to care.
Cheers

I begin to feel from your question that you may be what doctors call a heartsink. That is someone who makes the doctors heart sink when you come in. All GPs are now stuck with computer consultations and most of us have to spend most of the consultation tied to the keyboard. With the move to paperless practise, which we made a year ago, this is now more than 50% of the consultation time!

It has been reliably estimated that more that 60% of patients that now attend their GP have no medical need to be there, additionally consultation rates have doubled in the past 20 years. This means that although there has been only a modest increase in the total number of GPs the average patient consults twicwe as often as they did in 1986!

first of all, while you're procuring length medium outfits you arent fat. Medium is in basic terms that, in between small and massive which might make you ordinary. some human beings's epidermis isn't as stretchy as others. that is probable why you have stretch marks from what you stated, turning out to be taller and a average weight income out of your no longer being waiting to circulate because of fact your injury. Now what that well being care expert did replaced into relatively unprofessional. to no longer point out impolite in many techniques. i could call the medical institution and whinge to even in the event that they have, a board of directors or a greater point well being care expert. you're procuring that scientific care, the two with money or by your assurance, or the two. you do no longer might desire to be dealt with that way, you incredibly dont might desire to pay to get dealt with that way.

I would voice my concerns to the Local Health Authority. Doctors get very well paid for doing less than ever. If you do not get any satisfaction contact the General Medical Council. If all else fails , or if you don't want to stir up trouble , you can change doctors.

Who on earth would give all these thumbs down to those who have made valid points. Some doctors act ignorant because they are just that. They are known as heart sink doctors,to patients who arent being treated properly.

Keep asking the same question until he gives you an answer. And do not leave until he gives you the information you require. Also mention that he takes his computer to be fixed as its very rude to ignore someone when they are talking to you, and it seems to have been broken for 'x' amount of months.

Doesn't sound right. Maybe you contact the medical board and report his behavour. Also look for another Doctor.
