are there any alternative solutions/treatments for bipolar disorder that don't involve taking anti depressants and mood stabalizers?

2007-03-24 13:01:18 · 6 answers · asked by MnKLmT 4

I feel like I might be depressed, but I don't know how to be sure. I'm usually happy and smiling when I'm with my friends, but whenever I'm alone, I start feeling really sad and lonely and bored. My grades are suffering in school, because I don't pay attention and I don't feel motivated. I'm tired a lot (but that's mostly because I hang out with friends until late) but when I finally do have time for a rest, I never sleep well. I know that a good diet and a sleep routine and all that stuff would help, but I am just not motivated enough to do it. Does anyone have any advise or sugestions? Or any information on depression and how to treat it? Thanks.

I want to live a healthier less angry life but it's hard when I couldn't get along with my neighbors a month ago, I always frequently get in little quarrels with my mother and sometimes my dad, and sometimes, when I get bad service at a fast food restaurant, I feel like blowing up in front of them! Please help, I don't know what else to do! I'm loosing my sanity like alot of stressed out people do.

i am 25 and have gone through alot of drama and huge mistakes in my time. My mom keeps saying she thinks i'm bi-polar because people just don't act irrationally like i did. ( i ran away from home at 18 and got pregnant for starters) I was seen by a therapist and was not diagnosed as bi-polar, just told i make bad choices. How do i convince my mom i'm ok and what more info can i find to show her i'm not bi-polar?

She has had her children taken away. Her husband is abusive. Don't know if he is on drugs or just can't handle her drug abuse. A neighbor took her away from the home and is driving her 300 miles to my house.

term memory loss now. From then i lived with my grandma and uncle. In 8th grade she died, (i found here laying in the bathroom, she had thrown up blood or something and then fell, all i k now is that the whole bathroom was red) that was pretty traumatic, i then stayed living with my uncle. I saw my mom every week, shes at rehab for her head injury. Recently she broke her leg and somethng is wrong with her head. Shes at a nursing home and barely makes any sense. My aunt is an alcoholic but is for the most part alright, i talk to her everyday. When she drinks its just hard too:-/. My uncle takes care of me now. Hes great but expects so much out of me. I take care of all the chores & just deal with so mcuh. I have a boyfriend but at times can be sometimes verbally abusive and jelous. I dont kno this all is so overwhelming at times. Somtimes im happy but othere times i just.. get so sad. What is this? I sumtimes cut to releive the stress.. i dont kno everything just builds up, and its been

Example: We've been going back and forth for years about whether or not I have some form of mental illness. The problem, however, is that whereas she believes I do, I clearly do not. I believe that my experiences can best be explained through Pre-Birth Communications, angelic visitations, ghosts, UFOs, NDEs, etc. I am sensitive to the spirit world but she believes that I have schizophrenia.

I've been having these non-productive conversations with her for years now, and it really irritates me. We literally go around and around in circles and get nowhere. I just want to live a productive life and be accepted by people. Instead, she contantly harps on me and pretty much jumps on me at the drop of a hat. When she gets argumentative, I unfortunately get so back. It is some of the most unproductive conversations ever.

What can I do to not get sucked into these types of conversations? Because everything eventually comes back to this topic, whether we are talking about work or whatever.

although I do get a lot of work done in the wee hours in the morning when no one is around to disturb me and without interuptions. I feel like crap the next day, and a little odd. What's a painless way to get back on a normal schedule? Sometime, however i just stay up and surf the net and stress about things and ruminate. Thanks.
