although I do get a lot of work done in the wee hours in the morning when no one is around to disturb me and without interuptions. I feel like crap the next day, and a little odd. What's a painless way to get back on a normal schedule? Sometime, however i just stay up and surf the net and stress about things and ruminate. Thanks.

I've suffered from bouts of insomnia for about 7 years and I hate that odd feeling the next day.
To get back into a normal sleeping pattern force yourself to stay up all night and all day -do not sleep.

Have dinner early then at around 7 the next night go to bed and you should wake up at a somewhat decent time the next morning. If this works then set a bedtime each night and try to stick with it and don't use the computer before bed, or eat, or exercise before you plan to go to bed (mornings are better), instead read (but not in bed) listen to soothing music (softly played). Hope this helps.

I used to work graveyard and am a pretty bad insomniac myself but with correcting some habits I can get in the mood to sleep. Surfing the net or video games is one of the worst things you can do I think. You're brains totally engaged at a time it should be thinking about sleeping. Try staying off the pc and read a book a couple hours before you want to go to bed. Warm milk with a little rum will help. Also don't eat too late, you always get a boost of energy after you eat and it will keep you up. I wouldn't recommend any drugs because it has side effects the next morning. Also try exercising regularly and you should be ending your day tired enough to sleep. Hope that helps.

Go to bed as soon as you are tired. best time is between 9and11pm. Write a journal read a book spray some lavender in your room or some other scent that brings you peace be quiet with your self first week maybe take a mild sleeping aid calming tea or Tylenol p.m. Okay sweet dreams!!!!! Let me know how you are soon okay?
