My stepdad died suddenly last week at the age of 51. He and my mom were together for 15 years. The autopsy results are not in yet but it appears to have been a heart attack. My mom was the one who found him, while he was still alive, but he died at the hospital. He was the absolute love of her life. I have moved back into her house temporarily so she doesn't have to be alone, and I am helping her with the planning and doing everyday errands for her. My mom already has the loss to deal with and she also has his children bothering her for his "stuff" at the same time. I feel so heartbroken for her. I really want to help her but I don't know what to do other than be here. Any advice?

My name is Hayley Zarb and I’m doing my honours in psychology. My research aims to contribute to our knowledge of depression and psychological well-being, and has the potential to contribute to different strategies on how to increase psychological well-being (and decrease depression) in Australia. My thesis is on individualism and collectivism in different communities, and their relationship to psychological well-being and depression. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is particularly important considering how common the experience of depression is in Australia.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could take 15 to 20 minutes of your time to complete the survey in the link below. You do not need to have any direct personal experience with depression in order to complete the survey. Thankyou!!

Just click on the link below, or if this does not work copy the link and paste it into your web browser...

My pyschiatrist says i have unipolar depression and ADD. my pyschologist says that i have bipolar II depression with narcissitic and boderline features as well as ADD but not comorbidly. six months ago i was addicted to shoplifting and lying. she think it was a hypomania induced by the combination of lexapro, wellbutrin xl, and focalin. my pyschiatrist thinks it emotional immaturity.

I haven't been able to sleep for the past month ever since the kid I liked rejected me and there's been 5 deaths in my family in a month's time. I'm under so much stress and I have horrifying dreams. I only sleep about 1-2 hours a night and I need sleep!

I am severely depressed, afraid of people (excluding family), social phobic and have recently started cutting myself.

When I go back will she tell me my diagnosis straight up? And where do things usually go from here?

I am a 13-year-old female and lately I have noticed that I think I am having hallucinations. A couple days ago I took the cap of my deodorant bar and several shinny things that looked like flattened bubbles flew out. They disappeared after a few moments, but I know I saw them, and they looked very solid. Yesterday I was going to my room tie lie down when I turned around and saw a flash of gray disappear into my door. I have all ways scene strange things out of the corner of my eye, but when I turn around to properly see them the go away. Other times I see things like balls of light, but they do not look solid. I have never done and drugs, or smocked or anything. Even when I was little I was all ways supremely paranoid, I stay a wake in bed for hours terrified that if I closed my eyes someone or something would kill my family and me.

I've recently been diagnosed with PTSD. The mental health center has approved for me to get psychiatric help through the state and it will be paid for. However; I've been waiting around for over a month now and they aren't doing their job. I haven't even gotten my first session or have they made an appointment for me. I call every week to follow up and they would give me some BS excuse. I know that my problem is a very serious one and know that I'm in need of help. I've actually gotten worse ever since I've found out that I was diagnosed with it. I was the one who actually diagnosed myself first then went to an assessment to find out if I was right. And now that I know I have PTSD and trying to seek help and the state isn't doing much for me yet. I wanted to know if there is anyone out there who has PTSD or know about the problem and can help me. Are there any better ways to cope with PTSD than sit around waiting for a psychiatrist?

I think I do - I have been single for three years now - I have had some short relationships - but I dont know - It seems like it is harder to meet people now - I just dont want to bother - the slightest thing and I dont bother with a girl - just protecting myself I guess. I feel like crap enough so I am dammed if I will let one reject me at all - Thought I would get some feedback here !

Recently, I have gone to several job interviews, but I don't get hired. I think it's because I am mentally ill, and they do not think I fit into the "company culture". It seems like most employers want to hire someone who is like them. They want a friend, a lunch buddy, someone who fits within the existing team.

Mental illness has caused me to get terminated from many positions, quit one position, do inappropriate things, and pursue activities that were not aligned with my true motivations.

How do mentally ill people explain this in a job interview? I usually act like I am not mentally ill, and the interviewer detects that I am mentally ill at the job interview. If the interviewer is mentally ill or has mentally ill co-workers then I get hired. If not, then I don't get hired.

If you are curious, then I have ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and aspects of other disorders. My ASD causes me to behave and speak differently. My disorder causes me to have speech peculiarities.
