if you change your daily pattern it is easier to stop smoking. it's become a part of everything you do - so nothing seems complete or normal without being stoned. you have to make the choice that it is that important to you to stop and change what you have to. addiction counselors talk about changing the 'people, places and things' around you to break your addiction. because your addiction is a part of them too. you could also find some NA meetings in your area, admitting its a problem is big. a lot of pot heads rely on it to self medicate depression, anxiety, and other issues. so it makes sense that you feel borderline crazy if you dont smoke. you should talk to someone about life in general to find other outlets for any other issues. We all got em.

I used to smoke with my parents when i was younger and wasted 10 years doing the crap. You need to cut ties with the people you smoke it with for a while and have some will power. You will feel weird and find it very hard to stop. Find something that you really want, like you say you want to get a good job well write that on a piece of paper and hang it up on a wall that you pass regularly and make sure you read it everytime you pass. Don't buy anymore when you have run out.

You will feel really tired, anxious and lethergic for a couple of days but it does go away and that feeling is all the toxins going out of your body. I gave up and yes it was hard but i had something i really wanted to do in mind and you can do it too. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can overcome it because once you do you will wonder where all the years have gone that you've wasted.

I would talk to your medical doctor and maybe he can prescribe an anti-anxiety pill like ativan or xanax as a temporary help til you can get off the weed. It's a vicious circle, you smoke pot to relieve anxiety but after a while it can actually cause some paranoia. That may not be the case with you, but it's addictive for you if you are having such difficulty stopping it. Maybe you have an anxiety disorder(probably why you smoke it every day) but you'll never know til you rid your body of all drugs. There's other ways of dealing with anxiety once you get clear.

I quit pot several times before I once and for all gave it up. It takes about a week to detox. Trying to sleep is the hardest part. You just have to go through this. But as time goes on, I manage to sleep on my own. Now, I can say that I've smoked maybe three times in 18 years. Do I miss the drug? Sometimes I do. I'm aprehensive though. I'm afraid I'd get started again; even though I used on the three occasions and didn't smoke again until maybe years later. Fortunately, you can get off it because you really don't need pot.

Pot is not physically addictive like Nicotine. Its easier to quit.

You don't need support drugs. as with getting off some of the narcotics that get abused.

It really comes down to you deciding to get away from the others who use it and to just not get any more.

If you hang around potheads, you'll be smoking right with the potheads, because you are a pothead.

If you want to allow your brain to work again and quit being a pothead it takes at least 30 days for the drug in pot to get out of your system. Smoke one joint and it is still detectable in urine 30 days later. That means there is some in your blood and altering your mind for that long AT LEAST.

The duration that pot keeps altering your mind is the main problem with the drug. If you drink alcohol, your body gets rid of ALL of it within hours. You can safely drive the next day. If you smoke pot your body and mind are affected for an extended time. You are virtually ALWAYS stoned. You can't REALLY safely drive for at least a week.

It is tough to overcome a psychological addiction. After eight years you are not going to like the answer. This is how it is done. Change the places you hang out at, your friends and get off of the pot. Any other way and you are just fooling yourself the only way is just to do it. You might try tapering off but generally that will not work. Good luck to you.

Wean yourself off of it. Take note of how much you use. You've been doing it for eight years, so quitting cold turkey would be a mess. I'd say to lessen the amount you smoke by about 1/4 per week. Also, exercise does wonders to help with the anxiety. If nothing works, go see a doctor and get some anti-anxiety meds.

If you are addicted? Pot isn't ussually addictive. Buy some hard candy and keep it in your shirt pocket. Eat a piece of candy instead of smoking. It works. You are right to want to quit. It's not an excepted habit and people won't hire you if they know you smoke, and they will fire you if they test you. Then it's on your work record -forever-.

Okay, a sex addiction is not an excuse, it's something he feels he needs (to the one above), and many people have it worse than him. To you, i am not trying to be funny, but honestly, i would suggest that you go to a sex store (spencers woul be fine) and get you a toy (for men)... Also, if you are looking for a gf, be sure that she wants it as much as you, if not, then you could wonder off and cheat, and boom, end of that. GOOD LUCK.

Only you can figure out how to overcome it, but for starters you must stop keeping it around and stop hanging out with any smokers. You won't have to go long before you realize you don't need it, but you'll never succeed in getting this far if you are exposed to it.
