My mother was adopted at the age of five. Her birth mother was mentally ill and apparently tried to poison her. I'm going to reasonably assume that she wasn't very loving to my mother. The question is: if my mom may have unknowingly suffered from a some degree of attachment disorder, then couldn't she unknowingly affect me also, with subconscious behaviors? WBFJ has had shows about this, and a light went off in my head when they were talking about the children and the symptoms. I'm not an expert on it of course, so I want other people's interpretations... :) Thanks.

Do you think that mentally ill people might be right? Maybe what they are seeing is really there and people are telling them they are sick when they can hold a job, have fun, and enjoy life? I am by no means saying that mental illnesses don't exist, just thet some people are mentally different or more aware of whats going on around them.

I started on them when i was 16 and suicidal. They saved me. I have clinical depression and I am scared to come off them because
1. I have been on them while I was still a teenager and the brain is still developing. Would going off it be bad..Maybe my brain developed 'thinking' I would have this drug in me all of the time.
2. I'm scared it will go worse again.

I want to go off it....with a chance I can concentrate better and be not tired all the time and sleep.

I've been on it for only a week and a half... Its sorta just kicking in now... I can't be sad or happy. I feel flat like a piece of paper. Plus I can't sleep at night. So the doctor gave me some sleeping pills as well.. and I feel extremely sick when I take them. /what is this rumor I hear about zoloft effecting dreams/? Plus I heard more people actually lose weight on zoloft then gain is this true?

where I am afraid to get better. I feel if I get better it will only be a let down when I come down again. Maybe I never got better before except ignored a lot of things. Taking a bottle of pills equals no pain and getting better means the possiblity of pain. Im just amazed how my mind set has altered so much. Im just down that I dont have anyone I can trust when I hit those real low points where I need help to get myself back up. Does this crap ever stop?

It seems as if some part of my brain was fried by a lot of partying when I was younger. Now , at work (HR), I find myself unable to remember action that occured 1 month. But when I play music, I am able to learn and remember parts of songs, entire songs and even symphonies without a sweat. Songs I've learned 6 months ago are as fresh in my mind as they were 6 months ago.
What's up wit that?

A few months ago i was house sitting. With the house not being my own every time I left the house I had to go round checking all the taps, cooker, doors etc. I had to check them about 5/6 times before I could leave the house. I was even so worried one day I had to call back to the house in my lunch hour (bearing in mind it is a 30 minute drive) as i thought I left the window open! I thought that once I got my own house I would calm down.

I have just recently bought my own house and I still cant stop it. I have to hold my hand under the tap to make sure that no water is coming out and recheck things over and over again turning plugs off and checking the cooker is off.

I also do it with dirty laundry. I have to have a seperate washing basket!

My boyfriend made a comment to me about OCD and now I cant stop thinking about it.

Am I just paranoid about the housing going up in flames/flooding or is this not normal ?
