Give it a few weeks. My counselor and psychologist both tell me it takes up to 4 weeks or even a few months for the full effect of an antidepressant to work for someone. I took Zoloft for 2 and a half years. At first, it made me tired, so I had to take it at night. As for the weight thing, I didn't have any issues with that. I stopped taking it after 2 and a half years as I felt like it wasn't working for me anymore. Instead, my mind was cloudy all the time, I couldn't focus or think very well.

I just started taking Cymbalta shortly before Christmas, and am now feeling like that it's really helping. Just give the Zoloft some time work.

Every medication has side effects...it is up to you. Zoloft is an anti depressant and a pastor who comes in the ED often, once asked me this question: Did you ever see somebody on medication and heal (he was speaking about anti depression/ anti anxiety and bipolar medications. This boggled my mind....I could not find a person....
My husband was on zoloft for a while. He had so any side effects that he quite. Now he often takes 5 HTP. No side effects and after 6 months your body does not need it constantly anymore...
Depression is a phase when it is when you see part s of yourself, the world you do not like. You can not accept these realizations. Medications keep you quiet and subdued. Do not forget that the next step is anger and needs to get out before the next step of anticipation, acceptation and going on with your live. Medication might be a bridge for a while but not for ever...

To get to the origin of your depression or anxiety you can use tools. Tool like EFT (emotional freedom technique) and EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). What caused the depression...what is behind your depression? You can get there and be more what you really are. Enjoy every moment.

I am bipolar and my meds make me an emotionless zombie. It's a trade off. Be miserable and experience emotion or be functional and experience little. Try taking a supplement of 5 HTP. A lot of depression is exacerbated thru nutritional deficiencies. Look into alternative medicine - it saved my ***.

I think that it doesn't effect dreams. You may want to chage meds if they aren't doing there job.Different meds have different effects on a variaty of people.
