I started on them when i was 16 and suicidal. They saved me. I have clinical depression and I am scared to come off them because
1. I have been on them while I was still a teenager and the brain is still developing. Would going off it be bad..Maybe my brain developed 'thinking' I would have this drug in me all of the time.
2. I'm scared it will go worse again.

I want to go off it....with a chance I can concentrate better and be not tired all the time and sleep.

I would talk to your doctor about it and get their professional opinion.
If you really want to get off of the meds you could see about a trial period in a safe environment. .. a week in rehab or in at the hospital off the meds to see how you react to being drug free.

Good luck

Hi There,
It is nice to see that you have come through the tough times of depression.
You should discuss with your local Dr or Psychiatrist if you have one regarding whether or not it would be a good idea to stop the Cipramil.
One thing you should definitely NOT do, is to stop it suddenly and go cold turkey. If it is appropriate for you to come off cipramil then you should taper off slowly over weeks, and this should be supervised by your GP.
Best of luck

Hi
you must ween yourself off them,i used to take 60mg a day.Take your time reducing your daily intake,i would take a few monthes rather than weeks. If at any point you feel withdrawals up it again ,it may take a few tries.

Does your treatment team think it is time for you to be off of them? If not, do not stop taking the medication.
If they feel you are ok to stop taking the medications, you may be tapered off of it to reduce side effects. It is preferable to not just stop cold.
