Girls, guys, women, men...all do it.
It is a way of taking emotional pain and putting in out in physical way. When you cut, you have "control" over your pain (physical). It is a false sense of control because it is an avoidance of dealing with the emotional pain.
But it becomes addictive because endorphins are released when one self inflicts harm in this way. The more that they cut, the chances are they will go deeper...get riskier. It is very dangerous...and can become life threatning...when they get close to veins and arteries. Very scary.

Hey i used to cut myself in past, I did it because I hated myself and who i was. I wasnt good enough for anyone. I also had a bad experiance with some one.

I cut every time i felt down, sad .. angrey fustrated. I couldnt handle these emotions.

Cutting is a was of coping. BUT can also become a addiction, even though one wants to stop they simply cant becuase it has become the only means to cope.

Yes, Males to do cut.... they never talk about there feeling etc. I think it is more commen in females though.

Yes, but i think girls are much more susseptable to it. Its an emotional issue, i think when they have so much internal pain they feel unable to express it, so to cut themselves physically is an outlet for the pain, apparently it feels good to hurt pysically, its very complex. There had actually been a history of blood letting through the ages, at one stage doctors would prescribe it. If your friend or whoever your asking about isnt seeing someone professionally i think you should encourage them too.
