My doctor and therapist say that i have "major depression" and that they want me to up my medication (i don't want to). But my question is - how do they know that my depression is a "major" one? It sounds very dramatic and i am having trouble believing that i have depression at all - i just think that i am very unhappy and would rather not be here. Can't you feel that way WITHOUT being depressed?

I've started taking antidepressants but they apparently won't kick in for another couple of weeks. Some days I'm fine, other days I feel like I'm in this deep hole and I'll never get better. What are some ways to get through the days until the medication kicks in?

I haven't researched yet but in the last year have had some very disturbing episodes where I'll wake up, and know for certain I am awake because I can use my voice and move my eyes but everything else is absolutely paralyzed. I have also been totally unsure of where I am until I am able to move my eyes and focus around my room and a hallway where a light remains on at night. I want to add that I am "in tune" to the other side from time to time meaning I do see dead people and I do hear dead voices, which by the way have followed me acroos the US. No, I'm not a wacko and share that part of myself with a very select few who know me well. That being said, I do not put these episodes in the category, meaning from the other side if you will. When I am finally able to move an arm, leg or whatever I also have extreme "static" and a terrible headache. Can anyone help me to understand or suggest where I might find some answers? Thanks so much.

I am suffering with depression and stuff at the moment and one thing that happens to me regularly is that i have bad dreams, cry in them, and wake up crying. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it to do with my depression? It happens almost every night and the dreams vary a lot (its not the same thing i am dreaming about). Thanks.

If you was in a position where it was life or death could you pull the trigger and watch another person die? This may sound like a morbid question but it is a reality that we could face at any time of our life. If not shoot somebody, then do whatever it is in your power to kill them?

I have read that the types not including the paranoid and delusionary features are pretty common? Can someone describe what a less critical form of schizophrenia is like? And when is typical onset and causal factors??

Could i still be in danger of bad side effects if i quit Klonopin cold turkey 3days ago and didn't encounter any yet? I'm mainly concerned about seizures, but don't see what good can come out of starting to take more again if I have already been off it completely for as long as i have. If i should start to take more, how much??? Thx for your advise and have a great weekend!!!

It makes me tear my hair out. At the moment I have been signed off work (now in my 5th week) but his opinion is that I should just pull myself together and get on with life (If only I could I would) I have tried printing things off of the internet on it but he claims they are to wordy and he doesn't understand them, when I gave him a printout from my GP he just ignored it and wouldn't read it. I have tried talking to him but it is so difficult as he just switches off and doesn't listen. He asks me what's wrong and when I try to expalin how I am feeling he is just snappy and almost unkind. I love him dearly but I just can't go on living like this, is it a case of ignorance is bliss, do you think he's frightened by the dianosis. Does anyone have any advice or experience on how I can get him to understand what is wrong with me? The bipolar is silently destroying me and my husband is breaking me in two with his behaviour. Any advice?

My seven year old recently came to me and said that he feels like everything is speeded up in his body. I asked him if it happens all of the time and he said no just sometimes. Then a couple of mornings later he said that he was hearing voices and that one was angry and one was nice. He said that he never can hear what they say but he knows that they are there. He couldn't tell me how long they had been there. I am so scared that something might bad be wrong with him. He has been a normal kid, he has an older brother and a younger sister. No divorce in my marriage. My husband and I have been married 14 years. I don't know what to do.

Ok so I have been on Effexor XR before and was taking 75mg/day. I had to come off the medication when I joined the army and to put it simple it was HELL! I was put back on it right before I got out the army. It has been about 8 mths being on it now. I was prescribed to take 150mg/day. Now that I am out the army I don't have health insurance and the VA can't prescribe it to me any time soon. I have 3 capsules left. When I realized I only had about 10 left I began pouring half a cap out and trying to taper that way. I am now pouring 3/4 of the cap out and taking it every other day. I feel AWFUL. Anyone who has come off effexor knows what I mean. Nausea, headache, dizziness, brain zaps, eyes hurt to move then, light sensitivity, vertigo, anxious, agitated and irritable to name a few. Will taking either Celexa or Trazadone make this transition any easier? And if so how would you recommend I take it and how much? Any tips tricks anything to help is GREATLY appreciated.

I had an interview today which I completely bombed. I have always done extremely well in interviews. My last two interviews i've forgotten words (How can I not remember cabinet??), seems I go into random blurbs that don't make sense which makes me terribly nervous in the interview. Sometimes i'll be in a basic conversation and unable to think of what a "cow" is, or a "cabinet". I'm only 25 and worried something is not right. Anyone ever hear of this at 25? Any suggestions on anything I can do in terms of vitamins...memory techniques...or any other medications? Also, I don't smok, no drugs, and will only socially drink. I really need some help. Thanks in advance.

My mother has paranoid schizophrenia diagnosed years ago. She thinks that everyone is against her... our food and water our poisoned.... people come into our house and hide her stuff.....jets are flying over watching us..... this is my mother who I love and cherish. MY FAMILY can not get her in to go get medicine... She needs to be on medicine. Does anyone know of any helpful web sites? or any ideas to get my mother some help. She believes that the police and medical professionals are all in on it. This is her paranoia. I need some ideas on how to deal with this... I'm tired of watching relatives step away from our family and i'm so tired of this situation.
