There have always been, and always will be, mentally ill people in the community. Their numbers are small and often due to peoples ignorance of mental illness they are isolated and do not take any part in society because of fear of ridicule. Im afraid your question does not help make their situation any better. Please be tolerant, mental illness is treatable and with understanding the lot of the mentally ill person can be made so much better;

Your statement that you want nothing from us may be the cause of our instability. The impression I get from it is that you would rather we just go away. That we would just "get lost". People, all people, need to have some proof they matter. They need to know they are loved. It's a "give and take" between any two people. "No man (or woman) is an island". If a person finds he or she is becoming "an island" they mentally rebel. That rebellion can take many forms among which are the symptoms of the various mental illnesses.
What I'm trying to say to you is that the cause of mental illness (all mental illnesses I think) is a lack of "belongingness", a lack of basic love. And your assessment of what to do about the situation only compounds the matter because you propose to selfishly isolate those who suffer (are strange and different) to insure your own "peace".
If you want a "stable society", reach out to all others in that society with love and understanding not rejection. Love and peace!!

Good question.
I don't think the answer is to gather up all the unstable people though. Even stable people do stupid, dangerous things.
All you can do is live life the way you would like to see others living. Sometimes it's contagious.

Bottom line? To have a stable society, the stable people have to be in the majority.

I think man is unstable, a characteristic that has led us to constantly innovate. As with most things, there are good and less desirable consequences of this.

and how is 'stable society' defined. Don't forget they do say that there is a very fine line between madness and genius - you need to ask yourself the question 'upon that theory, are we all not mad?'

"Society" is an endless pursuit of stability. Unstable people are not the only barriers to achieving it.

the unstable people have to be in the minority and they have to be controlled to ensure they do as little harm as possible.
