I am suffering with depression and stuff at the moment and one thing that happens to me regularly is that i have bad dreams, cry in them, and wake up crying. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it to do with my depression? It happens almost every night and the dreams vary a lot (its not the same thing i am dreaming about). Thanks.

There are 2 states of mind, the conscious and the unconsious. It seems that maybe something has triggered off your depression in your conscious state, but in your unconscious 2. Im sure you have heard that our waking state and everything that happens in the day leaks into our dreams. Has something painful happened? Rather than looking on the negative, write down positive things, think of happy memories. Depression is something that effects both minds. You need to see a doctor, or a counsellor. I am totally against anti depressants, I am doing a degree in psychology and I have analysed one study after the next. Anti depressants are OK short term. but long term its not a physical illness your have, its mental. So it needs to be treated professionally. Drugs only give you a temporary fix it doesnt help long term situations or get to the core of the problem. My advice to you is to write down dreams that make you cry. Write down what makes you depressed and what makes you happy When do you most think about your problems? What distracts you from them? Then take them to a doctor or a counsellor. I recommend a counsellor for you, as i said your problems are mental, they cant be fixed in a physical way. Once you have to in touch with your problem and analysed it rite back to where it started i promise it will get easier. I am available to talk anytime you need someone. Yes I have also woke up crying. A lot of what you dream or the feelings you get from your dreams are related to how you feel during your conscious hours so if your depressed you may have dreams that reflect that. And some times dreams are just dreams...your minds way of organizing and "downloading" everything that you have taken in the previous day. But if it happens almost every night I would definitely say it has to do with your depression and the "stuff" your suffering. When I was depressed I would have dreams where I died and each time it was a different scenario. The thing is these dreams didn't bother me and I figured it was my mind helping me realize that each day is a gift kinda lifting my spirits up...hmm who know?! Crying is also a release in a sense endorphins like dopamine and nor epinephrine are released in the brain these have to do with "good feelings" this chemical process takes place during sex, exercising, and even crying. I always feel better after a good cry go figure. Your body is a powerful thing. But if these dreams are bothering you I would go see your Doctor.

I do sometimes when I'm having a very sad dream. I once dreamed that my sister was dead and I couldn't stop crying.
It might be depression yes, which is caused by a chemical unbalance in your brain. Have you tried Therapy or Counselling? Have you been to the Doctors regarding this? They might be able to give you a prescription for this. As well you could try Hypnosis, as there might be an underlying cause to that.

You will usually wake yourself up if you start to cry in your sleep, just as when you dream you can't yell or scream, if you manage to make a sound you will wake up.
I used to cry in my sleep after breaking up with my first boyfriend, and it always woke me up.
If you cry a lot in your sleep, over different things, obviously you have trouble allowing yourself to cry when you're awake, you keep your emotions under tight control, so your mind and body are just trying to let it out somehow. You go to sleep, your guard comes down, you cry--and you wake up.
I too suffer from depression at times, tho mine runs more to panic attacks. It's hard, I know.
(((Hugs for you)))

first , you have o calm down and do not worry so much .
try to have a shower before you sleep
have a little nap at noon ( between 1:00pm and 4:00pm)
have a teaspoonful of honey at morning
do not think of any thing that may offend you during day
speak with some people you trust about ( general topics and this very issue)
try to pray to God
have a little chat with your parents or siblings

I did for nearly a year after my little brother was murdered. The crying finally stopped after Lance came to me in a dream and told me not to be sad for him anymore.

Well...when I was a boy, I had a dream with lots of sexual contents and I woke up to find my penis was crying. Several years later, I found out that people call it "wet dream." But other than that, not really.
